The Acid War Zone Trail is one of those places you wish you could give half star incremental ratings. Its not a four star location, nor is it a three. 3.5 is the perfect rating for this location. The trail is easy to follow, and has numerous picturesque stops along the way. It is suggested you start at the northern parking area depicted here. The mild hike to the Nakalele Blowhole will be much more pleasant this way, and the sights are so much better. The blowhole is quite disappointing so you will much rather see the lookout points along this trail. Overall, the scenery is quite interesting. Unfortunately you will be grimacing as idiotic parents let their 3-10 year old children run wildly around 200 foot unstable cliffs. It truly is amazing how ignorant so many people are. If you want to see memorizing stupidity, do stop at the blowhole and watch people stand over, it and turn their back to the ocean wall. And they wonder why so many people have died here over the...

I wasn’t expected a lot from this trail because of low quality of the pictures I found in reviews🥵, so I’m going to change that😜. This trail is just an amazing! View just holding your breath. If you enjoy ocean views like we do. It’s natural pools with such different colors, it’s huge rocks, it’s desert climbing (not crazy), it’s rainbow 🌈 We did just half way because we didn’t have enough time but still we enjoyed a lot. And please, you should get some food from that amazing guy who is sitting at the beginning of the trail. He just an amazing person and everything he has so delicious! It’s a real Hawaiian energy from him....

This trail is NOT for the faint of heart especially when windy. It is wet, slippery, muddy, and there is crazy sea spray. HOWEVER, it was one of the coolest hikes I have ever done. The waves crashing onto the rocky shore, the rocks peppered with sea spray erosion (so the whole landscape really looks like an acid warzone), and the blowhole exploding into a tall plume of seawater every so often (we visited during high tide / rough seas - I've heard it isn't always blowing as strongly, esp with calm water or high tide). Lifetime memory unlocked. I recommend using Alltrails to stay on track as the trail isn't...

A wonderful place to start you hike to the cliffs and blowhole. The parking spots might be limited, but we were lucky that we got a spot in the middle of day in May, close to the road side. The trail was not well marked, so we had to figure out the way as we hike. “Stay as close to the sea but not too close to the cliffs” was the advice given by a returning hiker, and was proved to be wise through our own experience when we started hiking to the first portion. The view is unique and marvelous. Definitely worth of your a couple of hours while visiting the island.
