The roads going up aren’t good at all. You will need to stop —sometimes abruptly because a vehicle coming downwards will speed towards you on a curving narrow road which fits two cars perfectly (not a good thing). The narrow fit on the road up to this garden was very scary and uncomfortable especially for tourists, who can be prone to altitude sickness, or motion sickness not to mention the fact you’re going up a mountainous terrain as is. It isn’t a short drive either.. You will be driving up a steep , narrow, roadway to for at least 30 minutes Focusing in the inside of the garden itself, we paid $40 to get in for just two people, for a very small & underwhelming site. Compared to the entire island of Maui and everything on it, I thought this garden was very mediocre, You can see the same if not, better scenery, and plants on other hikes and trails. It’s not worth the effort at all to pay and drive all the way up to this place. If you’re very into nature/plants and want a nice trail to go on for fun ,are elderly or traveling with children, I think it’s a nice calm & safe tourist spot but trying to see something exciting ,interesting or fun: I don’t think this is the place, you’re better off going to Hana( lots of cool plants/scenery) or simply going on a hike/ trail (waihee ridge or pipiwai trail are way better then this, you will see cool plants, animals, and wildlife and it won’t be such a hassle. This was overpriced & boring I really regret going up here. It was a waste of time and money & the ride up gave me awful altitude sickness . Giving some stars because it is maybe a nice place to kill time if you want to pay 20$ each to see some trees & a pond, they had a nice functional bathroom :) , some places to eat & there was a ONE very nice view where I could see the ocean which I really loved and made up for the...
Read moreThis woman who works at the art gallery completely ruined my experience with my mom and daughter. Upon arrival into the art gallery my daughter got yelled at by her almost immediately. She was trying to pet the peacock that was towards the back of the shop. She’s only nine. She shouted at her so loudly that it felt like it shook the art gallery. I told my daughter to respect what she has to say and she didn’t do it again.
The second incident was when I was purchasing art. I was asking about the black sand beach. Not specifically the one that is in the national park. I asked about reservations and she said you absolutely need one. I think she may have been confused because I wasn’t talking about the national park. I said, “Well you would know better than me”. She looks at me with a rude look and says, “Yeah I would know, you’re just a tourist. I’ve been on these Islands for way longer than you”. I got my art and left. I was outside talking to some people about the black sand beach. They said for some portions you don’t need a reservation. I walked in to tell her the information I learned. Not to rub it in her face, but to simply pass along accurate information. In case the next tourist has a similar question. She proceeded to argue with me and was extremely rude to me in front of other customers. She probably dampened their experience.
Not much of aloha vibe from her. Wouldn’t recommend stopping by the art gallery period.
The garden itself is beautiful. But don’t have toxic people running your gallery. My mom, daughter and I had this planned for our last day in Hawaii. It really robbed us of our...
