Kuau beach is conveniently situated behind Mama’s fish House. Parking for the beach can be a bit of a waiting game, but once you’ve managed to squeeze into a spot, it’s all worth it. As you walk around the corner and stroll down the short hill, you’ll stumble upon a picturesque beach where families and tiny humans are frolicking in the water. It’s a safe and gorgeous beach with a barrier that conveniently keeps the big waves at bay, making it a perfect spot for wee ones and novice snorkelers to get their underwater adventure on. And because this beach is basically a real-life Finding Nemo, turtles will randomly swim up to the beach and then slowly make their way up to soak up some sun, because who doesn’t love a good sunbathing session? Read moreIf you are in the area this is a very nice, secret but not-so-secret tiny beach. It has a natural tide pool which is perfect for amateur snorkeling and kiddos to practice swimming without The crashing waves.
It is also a good spot to see a few local sea turtles sunning themselves on the rocks or napping on the beach without all the touristy, surfer bustle of Ho'okipa up the road.
This public beach shares a parking lot with the famous Mama's Fish House, so it is very easy to miss. And that is the only real downside here. If you are visiting from lunch time on, you are likely to have some dressed up gawkers waiting for their table or basking in the post-meal glow of some of the best seafood in the world.
