We visited Kula Farms up in Kula as they were having a pumpkin sale. We arrived one minute after closing. We walked through the open gate. I was just going to make a circle around the property and was told abruptly that it was closed. This was my first time there at this farm. My intentions was to purchase some produce. As I was passing by one of the vendors I noticed she was selling drinks. I asked her why she is still selling drinks if the farm was closed. The manager's daughter Jalen said: "you didn't pay the entrance fee and you must leave immediately!"

We were in the midst of walking off the property I was just questioning why we couldn't purchase a drink. We had just driven 40-minutes from our home and we would've appreciated a beverage. The manager's daughter Jalen followed me to the gate and proceeded to berate me. Shortly afterward Jalen's Mother Tori joined the fray. I never expected to pay an entrance fee to purchase produce.

All we wanted to do was purchase vegetables and look around. We had no idea that we would be chastised, condemned and verbally attacked. All the farms I have ever visited separate the apple cider, donuts, petting farm (plus food I purchase for the pets) from the activities with a fee, such as; cornstalk maze, games, etc. My question is why should I be charged an entrance fee to buy pumpkins or buy coffee or buy a plant? I am paying for these items. Why aren't the vendors being charged a fee instead of the paying customer? My next question is, why are utility vehicles and other vehicles allowed to enter the grounds when there are dozens of people still milling about? Kula Farms is a place I will not be...

Kula Country Farms Pumpkin Patch is a yearly must-visit for me, and it never disappoints. The views alone make it worth the trip you can see the ocean, the West Maui Mountains, and all of Central Maui in their full glory. It’s truly one of the most stunning backdrops you could ask for. The farm is beautifully maintained, and you can feel the care and aloha that goes into everything they do.

The staff are always warm and welcoming, and even the animals seem so happy here. It’s more than just pumpkins you’ll find beautiful flowers, succulents, and their famous Kula strawberry products. Their strawberry lemonade and jam are my personal must-haves and make the perfect take home treats.

They also have a candy shop with fun toys and pumpkin carving kits, making it a perfect stop for families. The pumpkins themselves are priced well with a huge variety to choose from. Between the unbeatable views, photo opportunities, kid-friendly atmosphere, and unique local products, this pumpkin patch is a fall tradition on Maui that I look forward...

Fall Pumpkin Patch Season. Excellent time to take your keiki (bring their boots for added fun as certain places are a little dusty). Our children had a wonderful time at the patch with the large variety of pumpkins, and we also loved the staff's friendly aloha spirit. Their Strawberry Lemonade is super delicious; a perfect combo of sweet and tarty.

Please be advised, during this time there is a $5 entrance fee for those 4 y/o and older. Keiki ages 3 and below are free. There are no restrooms to the public; you will need to go across the highway to Rice Park. If the front entrance has no parking along the highway, you can check if the rear parking entrance to the patch, just a little down the road from the farm, is open (there is a small driveway that will have a sign next...

On our way down from breakfast at Grandma’s, we pull a uey into this place and glad we did on a Tuesday! I was going to buy strawberries from the stand but it was Tuesday…so strawberry picking I went! Plenty strawberries, but you need to inspect the underside (the part that touches the ground) for bruising or opening. $6/lb. Such a cute experience to pick your own sweet strawberries! At the tea stand, I ordered the Kula strawberry match latte, with coconut milk (they offer macadamia and oat I believe also). So refreshing! Beautiful views of Maui at the seating area!
