The Awakening Church — Attraction in Maui

UPDATE: THE AWAKENING CHURCH SERVICES ARE HELD IN LARGE OPEN AIR ENVIRONMENT -- A VERY SAFE WAY TO WORSHIP DURING THESE CHALLENGING TIMES. My wife and I come to Maui from Pennsylvania for about 6 weeks each winter. A few years ago a local friend suggested we try the Awakening Church in Kihei. What we found was a wonderful, friendly, welcoming place filled with the Spirit! Pastor Stephen's messages make the scriptures come alive and he always applies the Word to our lives in a thoughtful and practical way. Based on his message, I always feel challenged to make improvements in my life and am provided with sound approaches to help me make those changes. Pastor Stephen's messages are extremely well-prepared and his delivery is full of enthusiasm. He seems to be a humble man who uses his gifts well to spread Jesus' word. His messages are captivating and my mind never wanders while he is speaking. Stephen's wife, Amber, is the worship leader and her voice is so very beautiful...what a wonderful gift she has been given. I'm sure God smiles upon her as she uses that gift to praise and worship Jesus. A young, newly married, wholesome, and very musically talented couple -- Kristin and Juan -- have joined the worship team making it even more awesome than it already was. When I leave the service on Sunday morning, I always feel close to God and more connected to Him than when I arrived. We were back again for our third year at Awakening which now feels like our home. While we are back in Pennsylvania, my wife and I sign onto Facebook Live and "attend" the Awakening service each Sunday (in addition to our local church). I would recommend Awakening not only to any Christian regardless of denomination (if you are connected to your denomination, go there, but attend Awakening also), but also to anyone who is struggling with life's issues who is seeking peace to come into their...

While vacationing on Maui it was important to me that we took time to remember the Sabbath and praise the Lord. We're never on vacation from Jesus, right?!? I did a quick check of nearby churches and considered a few. I was looking for a place my fully bearded, tattooed covered husband could wear his shorts and flip-flops and not feel uncomfortable or be a distraction to others. Based on a review of each churches website and earned online reviews - we selected The Awakening. The muffins were good, the worship was great, but the Holy Spirit inspired message was the best part. Pastor Stephen presented a holy spirit filled sermon using direct guidance from the Bible, and a little humor too. He provided great historical perspectives of scripture and gave practical and applicable suggestions on how to apply God's word to our everyday life. We were immediately welcomed at the church and extremely blessed to have been able to worship with others in Maui! If you like to attend church in a dark auditorium, sit in the back and not really engage with others - this isn't the best fit for you. But, if you appreciate a small authentic, intimate setting to engage with others in the presence of the Lord - this...

Hmm, where do I begin ... how about the parking lot where I was greeted with kindness, & welcomed in - the Hawaiian praise song so blessed to be a part of that what a gift !! The praise & worship felt right at home such beautiful voices such amazing prayer - The pastor spoke with so much wisdom about loss & blessings my heart so needed to hear - This man spoke of Authenticity in his church. & he showed it as well For a man of God to not hold back a tear when his heart was broken was so magnificent !!! It allowed the church to feel & be accepted for we all have some sort of brokenness in us I was visiting Maui to put some of my moms ashes in the ocean & heal from a broken marriage the message was God ordained, you can tell when a preacher is prayed up you can feel the presence of the Holy Spirit when people are living right. I pray to someday return to live in Maui & become a member of this church. Thanks to the pastors mom for her prayers & insight !!
