Wailua Falls — Attraction in Maui

Not sure what the cause of some confusion in the reviews is, but this is NOT Waimoku Falls, which is on the 4 mile round trip of the Pipiwai Trail and requires a national park pass.

This is a beautiful waterfall that just appears unexpectedly on the route from Hana eastward toward the coastal district of Haleakala National Park (Kipahulu). No fee, no hiking.

This is a beautiful and serene pit stop for a snack and some pictures. Just note the Hana highway really thins out here and becomes bumpy, expect slowdowns and more frequent blind corners! There's maybe 6-8 parking spots, on the day we went there there was a local selling coconut/coconut water, which was nice and also occupying 2 spots. If it's busy on the way in, try to catch it on the way back, or just wait because it's a short 5-10 min stop for most people.

No service, no bathrooms, no fee, limited parking, short 200 ft "hike" to the base of the falls which I imagine could be more dangerous if it's raining. Also some bridge views on the way back from the waterfall and I'd imagine the other side...

Beautiful waterfall to stop by for 10 minutes. Can park right after you go over the bridge (free). You will see other people parked after the bridge and pedestrians on the bridge once you get there so drive carefully and if youre on the bridge yourself be aware of vehicles. The road to Hana gets rough and gets A LOT worst further you go after this point.

The road to hana is not for everyone, although it is beautiful and a long/different kind of road trip, I left at around 530 AM to avoid traffic, multiple 1 lane bridges, parts of highway, twist & turns (took me 2.5 hours from kihei). Cant imagine and wouldnt do this road trip in the mid AM or afternoon.. Would take 3-4 hours one way (waste of time). If you drive the road to Hana, what I did and recommend once youre there (Lava tube - did not do but looks interesting, black & red sand beach, Pipiwai hike). Little to no cell service along...
