We are so lucky to have this park!!!! Enjoy the many trails, the duck ponds, board walk over the main pond, owl exhibit, exhibits and photography in the main lodge, and bird and other animal exhibits in the smaller/older lodge. Plus, they have trails for horses, a sledding hill, an old castle to visit, bike trails, waterfalls, and many special activities, most free - pick up the monthly magazine. It will literally take you years to explore this park.
I personally love the organized dog walks, organized hikes, and the trails that take you to very surprising places. See if you can find the overlook above the valley and bring birdseed to put on your hand, then sit very still until the birds come. You can even walk from Squires Castle up to the main lodge... but be careful not to get lost! I can't tell you how many people I've given rides to that have been wandering lost and are too tired to make the trek back.
ENJOY!!! And bring your dog and kids to enjoy it also. If you ever want to try something new - look in the monthly magazine for other MetroParks and try canoeing or kayaking, arts and crafts, or one of the many other activities. And if you run out of those things to do in Cuyahoga County, try Lake Metroparks with their farm animals (they also have the best dog park in the whole area), Holden Arboretum (they have a walkway in the trees) and guided tours, or Cuyahoga Valley National Park with Brandywine Falls.
Have fun! And be sure to vote to keep the parks and pay for their maintenance. They really are some of the best reasons to live...

It is a beautiful park that has something for everyone, including hiking trails, picnic areas, fishing ponds, and stunning views of the Chagrin River. What I find most impressive about North Chagrin Reservation is the variety of wildlife that can be seen there. Β Β Β Read moreVery well kept relaxing reserve with small trails and a small lake with 2 fishing docks, allowing you to walk around and enjoy the water and wildlife.
Recommended for dog lovers, small or large groups, families, and if you're alone and just want to clear your mind (as with any park stick to daylight hours altho this seems to be one of the busier ones).
If you don't like the geese then you can sit by the lake (one side has chairs, the other side has grass but can be untidy because of the geese).
There are quiet a few other trails including a horse riding trail as well, so look for trail markers. Other trails it connects to include Strawberry lane and Buttermilk falls, and a number of large spacious picnic areas. The picnic shelter specific to that area (Strawberry Shelter) is very large and clean, and seems able to handle up to 50 or so people with a dedicated delivery and parking lane, and up to 4 grilling fire spots. Always a relaxing place to visit with...
