I grew up on a farm 6 miles north of the Hurd Round House and Crosscut Field Stone Spring House. My first visit to the Round House and Spring House was when I was at the Hurd Ranch when I was five years old. I ran up the hill to the Spring House and opened the door and it scared me because the water was level with the ground from the spring. Over the years myself,wife, sons and grandsons have visited the site. In 2017, I called Norman Weckerly and asked him he would be interested in restoring the Spring House and Round House. Since then several of us have restored the Spring House and the Round House. I have had a plaque made and given to the Wells County Historical Society that lists all the people who have donated time and money to make this Round House and Spring House available to the public to see the beauty and historical significance of this site. ...
