When you arrive there is a very small parking lot, a bench, and 1 main path. I visited memorial weekend in May, the landscape is poorly maintained (tall grass and poison oak), and the azalea trees are sparsely growing throughout the area. If you are hoping for big bushes of blooms you will not see that, but it can be a quiet walk not far from McKinleyville. I did not stay long due to concern my vehicle could be broken into. There was a sketchy vehicle with a strange acting person who was there when I arrived, and they remained after I left.

Wonderful loop trail, says no dogs but on leash and picking up after them I don't see the trouble. Beautiful azaleas, rhododendrons, ferns and redwoods stretch across this short loop. Kind of a shady parking lot, weird characters and I def wouldn't leave my car unlocked.

This memorial weekend is perfect to come and see azalea blooming, we were there yesterday. Next week should be good to come too

This was supposed to be a wonderful park; unfortunately not only (like so many areas of Humboldt County-which have failed miserably in updating their online information!) is NOT ADA accessible, nor even has a smooth path! Chalk up another problem for handicapped travelers in Humboldt County! This place is very beautiful, but, the local governments (including their very own ADA compliance offices)...

When looking for something to do in the area, this park popped up. In my mind I pictured an azalea garden with various varieties of azaleas in different colors, similar to a rose garden. But it's actually a natural preserve of wild azaleas. There were lots of other flowers to look at too. We...
