We are big fans of Clemyjontri Park and have had our son's birthday party there 2 years in a row! The tents or pavilion can be rented online through the Fairfax County Parks website and the process is pretty easy. Fill out the form and email it in. They will send you confirmation that it is rented! This year, we were able to purchase carousel tickets online which I did to ensure that all of the party goers got to ride on it. It made the whole party planning less stressful because I wasn't worried about it being sold out before I could get tickets. It's also a huge hit with the kids and the staff are great!
A few tips that I would pass along: This park is HUGE. If you have multiple kids, especially young kids, be prepared to play zone defense. It is not fenced in so kids can easily elope. There is so much to do there which is good, but also tough on parents who have multiple kids (or want to talk with their friends). No concession stand, but there is often a food truck on the weekends. Regardless, I would pack a lunch because the food trucks can be hit or miss. -Parking can be tough. If you go on a busy day, there can be limited parking right next to the park and you may have to walk. Plan accordingly especially if you have kiddos who prefer to be carried, but are really too heavy to lug that far. -Get the carousel tickets ASAP either online or at the counter. It sells out fast and it only operates every hour to every half hour. -If you're having a birthday party there, be prepared to rent the tents or pavilion at least 45-60 days in advance. The summer months make it really hard to rent it even a month out. To get a June 10th rental, I had to submit my application by the end of April!
The best part about this park is that it is accessible. That means that kids of all abilities can find something fun to do here and can enjoy the park. I hope Fairfax County continues to prioritize building accessible playgrounds so that everyone...
Read moreI recently visited Clemyjontri Park in McLean, VA, and I can confidently give it a five-star rating. This park is an absolute gem for families and children of all ages, offering a wide range of activities and amenities that make it a perfect spot for a day of fun.
The first thing that struck me about Clemyjontri Park is its incredible accessibility. The park is designed to be inclusive, with play areas that accommodate children of all abilities. The equipment is colorful and engaging, providing a safe and enjoyable environment for kids to explore. My children had a blast playing on the various structures, and I was delighted to see them having such a great time.
In addition to the playgrounds, Clemyjontri Park features beautiful walking paths that are perfect for a leisurely stroll. The landscaping is well-maintained, creating a picturesque setting for visitors. There are also picnic areas with tables and benches, which makes it easy to enjoy a meal outdoors while soaking in the fresh air.
Another highlight of the park is the whimsical carousel, which adds a touch of magic to the experience. It’s beautifully designed and provides a fun activity that kids look forward to.
The park is also equipped with restrooms and ample parking, making it convenient for families. During my visit, I noticed that the environment was clean and well-kept, reflecting the care that goes into maintaining this lovely space.

Read moreMy son has muscular dystrophy and still walks, but not very well. He is also on the Autism spectrum, which makes life unbearable some days. We went on a Sunday after church and there were mostly little ones (my son is 12, but because he has been on steroids for 5 years; he looks maybe 7 or 8 at best). The little ones were faster than him, and a couple times my son did fall. I suppose I just wanted to feel normal (whatever that means); at least just once. All it did though was bring back awful memories of when my son was a little one at any given park. I'm a single mom who also has a hard time seeing families carrying their kids on their shoulders when I can barely life my 60 lb son like he wants me to. It is a wonderful park for those who a) have somebody to go with them to help b) I didn't see one wheelchair there except for my son's since he does use it part-time and I kind of felt that I was alone c) perfect for those with kids two and under The park for kids with all abilities doesn't change the fact u will be stared at with pity or kids will look at your kid strangely. So if that is what u want, don't say I didn't warn u. I'm talking to parents who won the lottery...
