We found a lot of interesting history at this museum, from barbed wire to Route 66 memorabilia. Our group arrived at 3:35 pm, a time we had arranged with the museum a couple of months in advance. Because we were traveling across Oklahoma, we couldn’t get there before 3:30 pm. They assured us they would stay open and, when we called ahead to confirm, they said it was fine but that they closed at 4:00 pm.

Upon arrival, I spoke with the woman working there, who acknowledged that we were on the schedule but mentioned she was tired and would be closing at 4:00 pm. We did our best to quickly see the museum and left shortly after 4:00 pm. Some of our ladies wanted to browse the gift shop, but were told not to look because it was already closed. We understood, but felt it was a missed opportunity for both sales and donations. Our men were really left wanting...

This museum is a real gem on old route 66, and its free! There are so many aspects to ranching that I, a Pennsylvanian, was unaware of. There is even a section that is dedicated to barbed wire in war. The areas that interested me the most were the room on the Dust Bowl era, the variety of ways to install barbed wire and the witty tidbits of information there for the reading. This is not a professionally done museum so if you come expecting that you'll be disappointed. It is rustic and fun and really worth a stop. P.s.There is also a suprizingly good and...

Been here 4 times. Once, unfortunately, they were closed - our fault as we arrived at about 2:00AM and slept in the parking lot. Last time I saw it was 4 years ago. It was a sad time as we were riding out motorcycles along I-40 and everyone was too intent on motoring than stopping here. I looked to the left while riding and swore I could see the building. But the times that I have actually been inside were outstanding. Great souvenirs of Route 66. Great selection of books. It's the only place where I have seen the book for sale, "Route 66 - The...

This was the next stop right after the conoco you drop inn, this was free to enter and tour the museum but id highly recommend donating since they stay open based off donations only. This is not the most popular stop on the route but its a must stop overall i believe because you learn alot about the early days of texas when they created barb wire and how it evolved for many different things to the dust bowl and how they went without rain for over 2 years. I highly recommend coming here on the route 66 journey.
