As other reviews say, the road to Crisp Point is NOT for your average car or RV or if your pulling a trailer. The first 1/5 of the way in is your average dirt road with divots and rumble strips, so what. Then it quickly turns into “I think I need an ATV or 4x4 truck to get in here. If you’re a tourist and you are driving a sporty car or some random sedan, congratulations on learning how to off-road in a vehicle that has no business off of pavement. If your car does not have the ground clearance of a REAL SUV or truck, that’s your problem when you rip up your front/rear ‘bumpers’ because you will. You might blow out a shock or strut.
The road that is really an off-road trail riding road is a LONG road in to the lighthouse. It is VERY WELL marked so just keep following the easy to follow signs and one day you will eventually get back to the lighthouse. Go slow and keep your lights on even at 1 in the afternoon because there are a LOT of areas that you can NOT pass a vehicle leaving and there are MANY blind turns on hills.....YOU need to be seen or you’ll smack head on to each other.
After you start to believe you’re lost, keep going. After you think this is the lost trail into the twilight zone, keep going. After you think some local yolkole is going to offer you to the Harvest Gods for a bountiful crop, keep going. Before you know it you will turn a sharp corner on a steep wooded hill and the most amazing little corner of the UP will be there waiting for the hundreds of pictures you’re going to take. I got to see the sun set on the water then it got pitch black and a lightning storm was on the horizon. It was simply AMAZING! The grounds are maintained like it’s the Ritz Carlton. The beach is clean and has an abundance of smooth stones. There is NOTHING ELSE around so it’s so quiet, so peaceful and serene. Driving back out in the pitch black is the next part of your adventure and your soul will be pleased for having seen one of the most beautiful little spots in Michigan. You’ll never forget this little cove or the drive in...

As an avid hiker and outdoors enthusiast, I recently embarked on a journey to Crisp Point Lighthouse, a hidden gem nestled on the shores of Lake Superior in Michigan.
Access to the lighthouse has been improved, with a more navigable road leading the way. The 20-mile stretch of gravel roads adds an adventurous touch to the journey. The rustic charm of the road, winding through the picturesque landscape, adds to the overall thrill of the excursion.
Arriving at the lighthouse, I was greeted by the breathtaking beauty of Lake Superior, the largest freshwater lake in the world. The beach, with its pristine sands, offered a tranquil spot for relaxation and reflection. The sense of isolation intensified the connection with nature, making the experience truly unforgettable.
Exploring the surroundings, I couldn't help but marvel at the rugged beauty of the area. The juxtaposition of the lighthouse against the vastness of Lake Superior creates a scene that's both awe-inspiring and humbling. The remoteness of Crisp Point adds to its allure, making it a haven for those seeking a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
In summary, Crisp Point Lighthouse offers more than just a destination; it's an experience that resonates with those who seek solace in nature. The improved access, coupled with the pristine beauty of Lake Superior, makes it a must-visit for fellow outdoor enthusiasts. If you haven't already, it's a journey worth taking, and I'm sure you'd appreciate the harmony of isolation and natural splendor that Crisp Point Lighthouse provides.

Read moreThis place was awesome. Peaceful and purely preserved. Best place I ever visited in a while. Definitely worth the long dirt road drive. Great sunset and sunrise. We slept in the car for the morning. But we lost a phone by the shore so when we figured it out we called the gift shop to ask if anyone turned in a phone for them. They said no so we gave my phone number to them if anyone finds a phone to please give us a call. Yesterday we had someone reach out via Facebook that they found a phone there. They tried to give it to the gift shop there, but they told the person who found it that probably not good so just throw it in the garbage. Thankfully great people still exists and she went through the trouble to put the phone in rice then turned on the phone that was locked but found the emergency contact name and started to research the names on Facebook and finally found us. Point of the story that the gift shop owner or worker is pretty messed up ignorant people when we asked them to ease give us a call but they did not care at all. Other then this the place was absolutely speachless.speechless. And thank to the person who found the phone we will get some more memorable pictures...
