My family and I went fishing here this past Saturday. Though we arrived late (around 4 p.m.), we were able to pay and get out on the dock pretty quickly. The lady in the office was extremely nice. She gave me the rundown and worms almost at the same time. since we were kinda of late, we didn't have time for a boat, but had time for a quick chat. The guy in the office was cool, too. Even the people that were fishing were super chill. Not too crowded, in fact, very few people. No bathrooms, just port-a-pottys. There is a good-sized shelter to eat under if you want. No playground (but my kids were having way too much fun playing with worms to care) parking right in front of the dock (Don't park on the grass). I am really looking forward to going back. Next time, I'll get there when they open so I can get a boat. They open at 8 AM- close at 6 pm, so they sound the alarm at 5:45 pm. GATES CLOSE AT 6PM! Oh, lol. I almost forgot the most important part. YES! The fish...
Read moreLake is not very big can get very crowded on weekend with ski boats everywhere and most of them are not really paying attention to what is going on. I have almost been hit a couple of times. I have also seen numerous close calls in the ski area . There are way to many boats going in circles and when someone falls the boat behind is following to close. There will also be days when there is a wake board competition on the other side of the lake. When wakeboard competition is going on that half of the lake is blocked off. The price also increased to launch a boat so now it cost more than any other lake around. It now costs $8.00 for a non motorized vessel that's from out of county, and you don't even have access to some of the best fishing spots. If you want to kayak or canoe try the haw river its free and you won't have to worry about getting run over...
Read moreFirst time here. Very nice place to paddle. We went up Quaker Creek as far as we could go. No motor boat traffic, we did not venture to the other areas so not sure how busy that gets. I would recommend this for beginners and people that like quiet paddling. The kayak put in has a roller ramp that is fun and easy to use. Clean restrooms, good safe parking and the lake was relatively trash free compared to other places I have been. Staff was super nice and helpful. There is a charge for launching, but well worth the cost to have a clean safe place. Hope to come back soon...
