Stockade Museum — Attraction in Medicine Lodge

We were here too early. It was closed, but we snooped around. Peered through a crack in the wall. haha We tried to walk around the perimeter, but could not because we would have had to walk through someone's yard. Just amazing what you can find! This was an unplanned stop and we're happy we did. It has a marvelous historian who was able to share amazing history, and tell us about remarkable artifacts like hair wreathes and the chemicals in an ancient doctor's bad. The cabin is exquisite... A 'mansion' for its day ( no Laura Ingalls!) I tried to visit the museum on a Saturday. Although the sign in front and Google maps say that íts hours of operation start from 10:30am on Saturdays, it was closed the first time I came (11am "ish") with a sign saying something in the lines of "we'll come back soon" so I visited again at noon, same sign there, same situation so I continued my way to Oklahoma.
