Had a great adventure at these caves. This place is about 30 minutes outside of Boise near some farmland. A little tricky to get to the right location, but you can definitely get in a regular vehicle. It is a dirt road and rough, and I would not bring a sports car here.
The area entry point is surrounded by rocks and there is a large steal welded ladder structure that has a small cage in the shape of a half circle to keep people from falling while climbing up and down the ladder.
You will need to be able to climb a vertical ladder for about 25 feet. You will need to bring lights with you as it will be entirely dark once you move away from the main entrance. There are 2 different directions, but one direction goes significantly further than the other. The ope ing area is very large, but once you start going down the tunnels it will vary from being able to stand to literally crawling on your hands and knees to move forward.
If you're claustrophobic you may not want to go here. You will also need to watch your head, can easily hit it on the ceiling, may want to bring a hat. Also if there are many of you may consider a mask or bandana as it can get dusty.
While there is definitely alot of graffiti down there I think it actually makes it more like a museum, I enjoyed the graffiti. It is worth the drive, the climb, the crawling, very cool place to visit. The ye.perature there is cool even when it's hot...

Beware that the final mile driving to the entrance is basically cross country. Also Google maps did not pinpoint the cave entrance exactly. Follow the grooves in the terrain to the east of the road once you pass the cow grate. Look for what appears to be an old-fashioned well with a metal ladder coming out. This is the right place.
The cave is very dusty and smells like a smouldering campfire. If you have asthma you may want to wear a mask. The walls are coated with graffiti, some of which is artistic but mostly resembles a garbled Facebook wall for miscreants.
Exploring the main parts of the cave takes less than an hour with minimal crouching. Headlamps are convenient, but regular flashlights are fine too. For the brave adventurous type you can crawl around and see a bit more. To my knowledge, the cave has never been mapped.
Wear clothes you don't mind getting dusty. Bring snacks and water, no food offerings close by. No bathroom services nearby. This is primitive cave exploring.
Your vehicle may get invaded by flies when you open your doors. Ours did. I took it through a car wash after the trip to clean both...
Read moreKuna caves are definitely cool but when the candles are all lit inside the cave with no cars around the area it's pretty Eerie we walked in about a half a mile and there's a single candle lit up on the top of the ledge and my buddy and I were just about done at that point I drew a firearm and he just grabbed a stick or something and we just started going out for the front end because some wackos doing weird whatever it was next to the inside of the cave. As long as the cave ladder is Left alone it'll be fine. I'm always curious someone's going to mess with the ladder and somehow get stuck down there what was scary to me was we were halfway in there wasn't a single car around the entire area and as we go in he said yeah look at that there's a lit candle right there and we are probably a half mile maybe 3/4 mile in and nobody was around if there was not one its Soul inside and we get out to the front and there is nobody out there either there is nobody out there whatsoever not one person anywhere within a mile of the entrance because we...
