Impressive family run farm! This place is a hidden gem in McKinney, and while I’d love to keep it secretly to myself, anyone who’s into eating fresh veggies needs to know about Pure Land.
It’s only $5 to reserve your picking time! They could really jack up the entry fee, but by keeping it low the picking is financially accessible to more folks. Thank you Pure Land for that.
You arrive by driving down a narrow dirt path and park on a flat grassy area. It’s not like driving up to Walmart and can be muddy, but remember we’re approaching a working farm!
Checking in is easy - there’s a friendly lady at the table at the front of the fields. She checks your QR code verifying you’ve paid and tells you the lay of the land - what’s available for picking that week and what’s not ready yet, etc. You grab a basket and you’re on your way!
The rows of produce are clearly marked with signs that explain what’s in that row, how to find it (if it’s buried, hidden under leaves, etc) and if it’s ready to be picked. This is important since different veggies mature at different times and you don’t want to pick something too soon. It’s not like the grocery store where everything is there all the time.
Once you’re checked in, you’ve got an hour to spend in the fields. I’ve only ever needed about 30 mins to pick whatever I need for my family of two for the week, but if you’re picking for more people you may need the whole hour. It’s easy to go up and down the rows filling your basket with the week’s fresh produce.
Once your basket is filled, simply return to the table up front and they’ll weigh and bag your pickings. Payment is an easy tap & pay with your card, or cash. I really appreciate being able to pay by card at a small business like this because I know they’re having to pay those high card processing fees!
Now that you’ve picked and paid the only thing left to do is wash and eat those delicious fresh vegetables! Somehow they taste so much better than grocery store produce and I look forward to my weekly trips to Pureland. It’s an...
Read morePure Land Farm is everything I want in a local farm experience—warm-hearted people, outrageously delicious produce, and farming practices I can feel great about supporting. Every visit begins with a genuine welcome from the team, who are always ready to point you toward the ripest rows or swap recipe ideas while you pick. Their kindness and care turn an ordinary grocery run into a joyful community experience.
The produce is top-notch to me—on my last visit, I filled my basket with freshly pulled zucchini, juicy cherry tomatoes, fragrant onions, crunchy cucumbers, and even a handful of farm-grown flowers for the table. Everything is picked at peak ripeness, and you can absolutely taste the difference.
One of the things I appreciate most is how clean and consciously grown the produce is. Pure Land follows regenerative practices and avoids synthetic pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers. It's food you can feel good about feeding your family—and it’s just as good for the planet.
A few tips to make the most of your visit: -I highly recommend reading their FAQ in advance—it’s packed with helpful info so you know exactly what to expect and avoid any disappointments. -Bug spray is a must (I always use natural), and -Wear boots or shoes that can get muddy—you’re on a working farm, after all!
If you’re looking for fresh, flavorful produce, kindhearted staff, and a hands-on way to reconnect with the land, Pure Land Farm is a five-star gem. I already can’t wait for...
Read moreI visited on a Tuesday in Early June (10am slot) and there were plenty of huge, plump, and juicy blackberries! To get here turn LEFT onto County Rd 201 at the intersection of 545 aka Weston Rd and County Road 201. The Google Maps pin for the 7505 address is wrong and the entrance to the farm is a zig-zaggy dirt road framed by trees that is a short drive south of about 4-5 houses down from the 545/201 intersection. Look for their sign mounted on the fence. You pay for the $2 entrance fee at the end when you weigh and pay for your picked fruit/veg. I personally went solo but I saw a few parents there with kids and a small summer school with kids. Besides blackberries I also picked up some local honey from Anna, TX from their airstream store right next to where they weigh your haul and you pay. I had reserved a spot on their website a few days before and the process upon arrival was simple and streamlined wherein you park in the designated grass area, pick up your provided-basket, and walk a few minutes to the blackberry bushes towards the rear of the property. I was worried about potential bugs so I sprayed on some anti-bug spray on my legs prior to arriving and had no major problems outside of 1-2 bites in places I failed to spray so it’s my own fault. At the blackberry bushes, I saw some cute lady bug-like insects but that’s about it. Over all a...
