A delightful fall escape at Sunset Trail Farm!
This little farm in McKinney is absolutely charming. We spent an afternoon exploring their fall events, hay maze, pumpkin selecting, crafts, fun games, and of course sipping their standout blackberry lemonade. The kid activities are plentiful, from duck races to photo ops and small petting animals.
Even though my toddler had a meltdown (hey, it happens!), the atmosphere was warm, friendly, and welcoming, and it made me want to come back and do the parts we missed (animal feeding, face painting) next time.
The farm is family-owned and leans into sustainable, regenerative practices, especially during their berry seasons. They grow thornless blackberries, limit attendance so the experience isn’t overcrowded, and schedule events like “Date Night at the Farm” and “Mommy & Me” tours to deepen the connection.
Some things to keep in mind: buy your tickets ahead of time (they often limit walk-ups), wear appropriate shoes (it’s a working farm), and arrive prepared for narrow roads and a bit of farm logistics. Pets are not allowed, and some attractions may depend on staffing or scheduling.
But overall? If you’re looking for that sweet, local, family-friendly farm vibe with beautiful autumn touches and fun for kids, this place is a winner. We’ll be returning next...
Read moreI recently visited Sunset Trails Farm with my family, which included one adult and three kids under the age of 6. The farm is cute, and the staff is friendly, but I found the experience to be a bit expensive.
Firstly, you have to pay an admission fee to enter the farm ($5-6). Then, if you want to pick blackberries, you need to pay for a bucket. The cost for three small kids' buckets was $36, and if you want to keep the buckets, there's an additional charge. If you don't want to pay extra for the buckets, they give you a grocery bag for the berries instead.
We also took a tour, which cost $7 per person. The tour included feeding the chickens, which was nice but not particularly extraordinary. At the end of the tour, the kids got popsicles, which they loved, but I had to pay extra for my blackberry lemonade.
Overall, I felt like we spent $85 for a bag of blackberries weighing about a pound. While the farm is charming and the staff is great, the costs added up quickly, making it a pricier outing than...
Read moreMy daughter’s wedding at Sunset Trail Farm was an absolute dream! From the very first visit with the owner Kristin, I knew we’d found something truly special. It’s rustic in the best way possible — warm, inviting, and real — without feeling over-commercialized like so many other venues.
What I loved most was the authentic charm of the place. You can feel the care and heart that goes into maintaining the farm. It’s peaceful, natural, and full of that down-to-earth beauty that makes every photo glow.
The owners of the farm went above and beyond to make the day perfect. They were organized, thoughtful, and genuinely invested in making sure everything went smoothly. Our guests were in awe of the setting and couldn’t stop talking about how beautiful and relaxed the atmosphere was.
If you’re looking for a venue that captures the spirit of country rustic and keeps things genuine and heartfelt, put your boots on and head to Sunset Trail Farm. We couldn’t imagine a more perfect place for my daughter’s...
