Melvern Lake is a hidden gem just an hour from KC. Many campgrounds around the lake, we even drove thru one that offers a small horse coral at your campsite. The lake offers fishing, boating, and there are several swimming beaches as well. Be sure and bring what you need as the small nearby town offers no services. The campgrounds are very well kept and offer from boondocking to FHUs. With our national park pass we paid $11/night for a FHU site.
