River View Cabins & Canoes — Attraction in Mena

We booked the Bunk House for the 2024 Eclipse, and we could not have had a better experience. This is a wonderful property on the Ouachita river and is surrounded by the Ouachita National Forest.

The office staff was very nice, helpful, and informative.

The bunkhouse itself is exactly as described on the website: it's 2 big rooms, each with their own bathroom facilities, and one of the rooms also has a full kitchen. The hot water worked great, which was nice after hiking and outdoors activity. It's definitely a step up from camping since you have shower facilities, kitchen, a/c and heat (both work well), electricity, etc. Was great for our group of 15 (10 adults and 5 kids). You would have to be REAL close to your friends/family to put many more people into the space than we did, but it's not totally out of the question. Again, this is more like a glamping situation with some key amenities.

The screened in patio area was great, we spent most of our time out there, and we definitely enjoyed the easy access to the playground and volleyball/basketball area. We did not use the grill, it's more like a large BBQ pit-style grill. Not something you would fire up for a couple of burgers/dogs due to the size. Didn't use the fire pits/cauldron due to fire restrictions during our stay.

Great experience, and was made even better by the perfect weather we had during the eclipse. The office staff even walked us down to an amazing viewing location on an island in the middle of the river. We saw rainbow trout and a bald eagle. We also went gem hunting at a nearby gem mine....

With the stress of everything going on in the world right now and school starting soon, we were in desperate need of a mini vacation but I was terrified to go the beach or anywhere with a lot of people. This secluded cabin in the woods was exactly what I needed! It was very beautiful and peaceful! The cabin was gorgeous and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly! We enjoyed the very short hike down to the river for the kiddos to fish during the day and relaxing in the hot tub on the porch at night. The weather was perfect for us the few days we were there, I was even thankful I brought a sweater along for nights on the porch! I love that there was a notebook full of details about anything I could have had questions about inside the cabin, from how to work the satellite tv to directions to the nearest grocery store along with dates for fireplace usage and how not to mess up the hot tub!😂 There was also an instruction list on the counter leaving no question as to what needed to be done before check out. We ended up not getting to float the river like we had hoped, due to conflicts with our kids schedules, but that just means we will have to go back so we can try again another time and that doesn’t hurt my feelings at all! I do have to say I was a little jealous to find out that the big bed and pillows in the upper loft was way more comfortable than that in the private bedroom 🤣 but that’s ok I would sleep in that bed again any day to enjoy the...

DO NOT GO HERE! If you are honest hard working people this is not the place for you. My husband and I was looking for a great place to just relax for a weekend and ended up at this place mainly because of the woods. Would be a nice place if different people were running it. They will rip you off! They tell you if you clean the cabin before you leave so that their staff has less to do you will get your deposit back. Well okay we cleaned the cabin and left it just as we found it. We don't get our money back so I call and the lady tells me it's because we smoked in there. Um naw we built a fire in the fireplace that's in the cabin. Then she tells me we wasn't supposed to build a fire in the fireplace. Not one person told us we couldnt. I'm not one to really read reviews but I hope by writing this I can save someone else money that they work hard to get. These people are wrong for doing what they do. Folks like this is why it's hard to trust others and have a nice getaway. I took pictures of the cabin before and after our visit just in case they tried something. Yes I even have a picture of the fire we built in the fireplace. I should've went with the one review I did read on this place. At this point it's not really about the money they took from us.
