To fulfill my glowing US States visited, drove from Green Bay to Menominee, Michigan. So Michigan is now my 42nd State visited. Stopped by John Henes Park for a little stroll and few pics and the park was absolutely green and lush. The view of Lake Michigan is vast and serene. The lake appeared gloomy with a skyline of grayish silver where the sun tried forcefully to penetrate the cloud and the waves hummed and crashed the rocks. The park's entrance is one-way so you have to drive the loop through the entire park. There are many recreational opportunities such biking, fishing, picnicking, swimming, and walking. Very clean, nice indoor facilities and restrooms (even a place to rinse sand off), playground, grilling areas, and perfect for families with smaller children as the water is shallow for 100 feet+. Some reviews said the beach was not clean but it was very clean when we were there, yes it had debris like sticks and a little seaweed but overall very clean. Read moreWhat a nice park! It's right on Lake Michigan's shore and you can see Door County across the way. There's a nice, traditionally rustic park shelter and there are lots of picnic tables. There's also an amazing park building with a view of the shoreline, kitchen, fireplace, large outdoor grill, etc. I assume you have to reserve it and that there's a fee, but it would be a lovely place for a smallish wedding or a family reunion.
