Beautiful park. I have been taking my family here for years to go fishing and picnicing. This time our kids wanted to go swimming which was perfectly fine. We decided to go set up by the cliffs, opposite from the beach but not too far so that we were in between fishing and swimming. This is where the 2 stars rating comes in. As we arrived and were setting up, we noticed there were a few teens and kids jumping off the cliff into the water. Our kids asked to go play in the water while they waited for us. By the dog swimming area there was a sign that said "Dog Swimming Area" which stated all rules for dogs plus a "no fishing allowed" within that area. Thinking it's ok of the kids played by the water in the dog swimming area because there were no dogs there at the time. As we were about to finish setting up, a staff in a wheeler comes speeding up to us and stops right by us (old female worker) and says, the kids needs to get out of the dog swimming area. We said "oh ok, we will get them out". As we were telling the kids to come away from the area (mind you there were other kids and teens jumping off the cliff right next to the dog swimming area and swimming up to the dog landing to get out of the water) the lady speeds up to our kids and starts screaming at them "GET OUT GET OUT" then she went up to the dog sign posting and started smacking it and pointing to the rules one by one asking our kids if they could read and continues screaming. (Kids ages 6-9) other people are watching all this happen and as we got up to the lady, we told her we going to leave already and that she didn't have to scream at our children is such a scary and rude tone. She continued to ask if we could read. At this point, I'm extremely upset. My mind had two options, either argue with this lady or take my kids and leave. I ended up apologizing that we didn't know we weren't allowed to play along the water by the dog area since the sign didn't state so plus there were and are still kids swimming in the area. She kept on smacking the sign and reading out each rule to us. We finally said "ok that's enough. Our kids are away from the area please leave us alone" she refused to leave until we felt so uncomfortable and packed up our picnic to go to the beach side. The kids didn't get to fish but that's was fine because this lady 1. Didn't yell at the other kids 2. She wouldn't leave us alone until she saw us drive off. As we drive off, we could literally see her watching us drive away until trees blocked us. I understand that the sign clearly said "dog swimming area" but our kids were not in the water as others were and she did not have to scream at our kids as if they were not humans. Two Asian females with 5 kids trying to gave a picnic and a caucasian worker literally scolded us away as if we didn't belong at the park. We were there to fish, eat and eventually swim later at the beach. Because of this specific worker, we will no longer return to this beautiful place. We felt targeted and uncomfortable that she watched us pack up our belongings, every move and watched us drive away as if she wanted us gone. Yet again no words to the other teens that were clearly swimming in the dog area. She acted as if they weren't doing anything wrong nor were they anywhere near the dog area. Again, if we were to stand up for ourselves, it would've been adding more grease to fire and unlike her, we didn't want our children witnessing their aunt and mother deal with such a nasty human being. Be ware of this lady. She is a vicious, rude, non ethical, possibly racist and the worst human being I've ever encountered. Oh and as for the beach, what's up with all these rules? The water is barely knee high (adults) and waist high for children above 5 yrs yet it's extremely strict. And for the life jackets, why must they be life guard proof? I mean that part kind of goes both ways, why would stores sell life jackets if they aren't meant to save your life and why must a life jacket state that is life guard certified in order for the staffs to allow our kids...

Read moreThis review is for camping. My family stayed here twice in late July and early August with our pop up camper. Generally it is a lovely park with wetlands and prairie habitat and wooded areas, such as the family campground. The campground is not the best but would be ok for tent camping as the sites are mostly small, close together, and some are really tight and cramped from the “road” or paved path that you drive through the campground. We had the two bigger sites 8 and 9 and 8 was really tricky to back into with our pop up, 9 wasn’t as bad and was a more spacious spot. But overall it’s one of the most cramped camp grounds we’ve visited in 15 years. At least it’s wooded and pretty. So I can see why it’s not really used, it was 3/4 vacant when other county parks in Milwaukee are at capacity. The main complaint we have is the porta potties were literally full within inches of the toilet seat. It must’ve been an entire summer or more worth of waste. It was so disgusting! I’ve never seen anything that bad. The county should be ashamed! The reservation change policy is a full 14 days or we would’ve definitely switched campgrounds or got a refund between our two stays. Overall not all terrible but I don’t think we’ll...
