Elmer Murchie Park — Attraction in Merced

Pro: As far as neighborhood parks go, this is a nice park. It lacks some of the amenities a larger city park has (i.e. bathrooms), but is nicely maintained and has much to do (basketball courts, large field, jungle gym, etc.)

Con: Although the park is great for the community, some of its members are super disrespectful. There are quite a few people that use this park as a dog park, which lead to confrontations between dog owners and other park attendees. If I were a parent of a child, this would leave me a bit uneasy as I am unsure if other peoples dogs have been well trained/ well behaved with children or even up to date on shots. As for me, this has lead to my dog being involved in altercations between other dogs, even though my dog is always leashed and minds his own business.

Conclusion: As a community member, I utilize this park regularly for evening walks with my friends and family. As a dog owner or if I were a parent, this park is/could be a stressful place to let my dog/child...

Great for older kids, don't know if I'll visit again though with my younger kids.

Pros: Over all the park was tidy and clean. Structures were sturdy and new, fun for older kids I'm assuming. My 5 year old did ok with some limitations.

Cons: Not for younger kids at all! There was not really a space for the 1-3 age kids to play. Beside having the space for it, there were no little kid swings or a structure for younlings. On top of that, even the larger kid structures were impossible for my younger kids to get on without assistance because there was not enough mulch. (When I sat on the end of the slide, my feet were dangling. I'm 5'5".) To put it plainly, I didn't feel like my kids were safe playing there. And both my younger daughers loves to swing, and neither...

Great playground for families to bring children. There's a BBQ station for those that want to grill food on the weekends. There's a large field on the other side that's great for games such as tag football, soccer, or letting your dog run around. There isn't a whole lot of shade during the summer months or even a restroom (i'm not too sure). It's across from the CatTracks bus stops for those commuting...
