Read moreso beautiful plus charming place , excellent place to release your mind especially if you are a very busy person that your life its work , work , and other things. What makes this a very sweet place also its that you don't pay a single penny to visit the Rock made Castle, we went on a Saturday on sept 11 2021 and wasn't crowded either , park closes in inclement weather so keep that on mind , also the road that guides you to the hilltop its a bit steep so it's better if you go when no snow or windy conditions. People go to hiking to the hilltop so it's better if you go 20mph max to reach the hilltop. After you pass the Hubbard park it takes you about 13 min to reach the hilltop. Definitely recommended to drive slow to reach the hilltop because of people hiking on the road and few bicyclists , plus the road its a bit narrow because they built the road on a mountain. View its excellent at the hilltop. You will be at very high elevation. Plus keep on mind that if you go in late November when no leaves on trees view can be even better because no leaves on trees. If you wish even a best view...
Read moreThis has been a go to hiking spot for me since I was a kid! I'd say the hike itself is of moderate difficulty with one pretty tough climb right at the top as you reach the lot leading up to the castle. My kids really love the foot bridge that crosses directly above Interstate 691 East/West. They cling to the fence watching the cars zoom by beneath their feet. The view from the top is beautiful & when the castle itself is open its a treat to climb to the top & look out. You can see for miles all around. The trail markings could definitely use a makeover as they are pretty much nonexistent & have been so since 1995. I've encountered my fair share turned around hikers on this mountain over the years lol. If you're feeling energized after your hike you can always hit Hubbard Park afterwards! We usually reward the kids with a half hour on the playground after a successful hike! Watch out for snakes, occasionally I stumble...
