This place is amazing, but you have to be prepared before you head out into the Monument. All of the roads are dirt. There are no paved roads. If you are not an outdoors person you will want to speak with someone that has visited the area before. For more information about the area vist the Visitor Center at 345 E. Riverside Dr., St George Utah. My recommendations are to bring two full size spare tires,tire Plug kit, Air compressor, plenty of water (more than you think you need), and food. Those with OHV’s can go as long as you have a street legal plated OHV. Self-rescue capabilities are highly recommended, carry an activated Garmin inReach device so you can call for help and a SPOT device with rescue plan as well. Not kidding. Don’t become a statistic.
Finally, have a spare of everything and keep in mind that Mountain Lions are active predators in the Parashant at higher elevations.
