Chester Frost park and campground in Hixson outside of Chattanooga, Tennessee is one of our favorite go to campground as it’s only 2 hours from our home in Knoxville, Tennessee. This pet and big rig friendly park is on the shores of the beautiful Chickamauga lake that covers over 36,000 acres. The campground has 228 camp sites, we scored a lake front site # 97. The roads and site pads are all paved with 50, 30 and 20 amp power, Water, a picnic table and fire rings. Each has a pee gravel patio area Free WiFi ,Bathhouses ,laundry and a dump station . They have Yurts for rent ,picnic shelters , boat docks, playgrounds.fishing piers. Watch out for Deer on the road coming into the park there around. A really nice sandy beach and swimming area. Only 15 minutes to downtown Chattanooga with two aquariums , lookout mountain, Rock city and so much more. Be Sure to go and eat a one of two City Cafes locates.

The park was extremely nice, we were in spot 94. Great spot, a touch unlevel so had to use my leveling boards, but it was great. My only negative comment, the bath house over by the eagle point area is really bad, looks lime it was thrown up as an after thought, the qife and wound up using the bathrooms and showers over on the other side of the island in the smokemont area. The only other issue was the stop barrier on our spot was rotted and was laying on the ground with the spikes sticking thru, made me nervous because the barrier keeps the rig from rolling into the lake. So I stuck my big chocks and a couple of bih rocks under the wheels, since we were there during a horrendous tornado producing storm and we had like 50-60 mph winds coming off the lake our last morning. Great sgay though.

Chester Frost offers a delightful & simple campground with opportunities for quiet tent camping or camping in an RV or camper. I’ve only camped here in a tent, and I love the waterfront sites and simplicity of the campground. The tent sites are separate from the RV sites which keeps the tent area peaceful and free of the sound of generators. The on-site bathroom, campfire rings, and water spigots are nice amenities.

After several complaints I finally went to the top Kelly is the administrator supposedly, wifi is nearly non-existent still after several days, of complaining NOTHING DONE to look at the wifi cox on the pole its ALL COBWEBS AND CORROSION There more interested in riding the mowers then any type of maintenance After 6 years of coming the place is being STRIPPED of any qualities Silverdale inmates have better showers The NEW WASHER AND DRYERS HAVE mBEEN BROKE DOWN FOR A WEEK Lights never turn on at the bathroom building Kids are playing in the road in complete darkness The roof on the bath building is rotten with birds nesting in the holes and who knows what else The entire facility is deplorable anymore I WENT AS FAR AS CONTACTING THE COUNT COMMISSIONERS THIS PLACE SHOULD BE A RECOGNIZED FINE PARK UNFORTUNATELY THERE ONLY INTERESTED IN DEPLETING ITS RESOURCES I WILL NEVER RETURN The current photos posted show the poor conditions of the wifi neglect and the roof on the antiquated bathrooms Rates went up while removing the ADA discount , however it's still posted as available. THE BEST THING IS DONT COUNT ON ANYTHING, THEN YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED, HOWEVER...

We stayed 8 nights on site #88, back-in was challenging as there's a retaining wall right in front, to get almost leveled I had to get the front all the way to the ground, and had to put two sets of blocks in the back, not fully leveled but everything worked, felt a bit bouncy but not too bad, an smaller rig may be able to get level better than our 31'. This park is very big, has many different entertainment options. I enjoyed walking around the place! Staff and campers were all friendly! The sunsets were breath taking! My only bad experience was one of the campers that stayed a couple of days, they will leave early in the morning and be back late in the afternoon leaving their dogs alone barking non-stop all day long, I felt so sad for those poor dogs. We camped at Chester Frost Park in a...
