If you're looking to have your wedding at a venue in the middle of nature with incredible food in an extraordinary location the Tyler Arboretum might be for you! I've worked with this venue a handful of times and it's always been an easy, stress-free experience. JAM Catering has such a way of encapsulating the vibe of their venues into the food, it just fits. Upon entering cocktail hour there's refreshments like self serve cucumber mint water, lavender tea or a signature cocktail. The main cocktail hour table has high quality cheeses and meats, various fruits like grapes & berries, assortment of jams, pickled veggies, grilled veggies, different types of breads and so, so much more on the hors d'oeuvre side that I've probably never gotten to try. The main meal is spectacular and definitely not your typical wedding meal, surely a meal your guests will remember! The presentation is spectacular. If having great food at your wedding is a priority to you it's hard to beat JAM Catering! I also want to mention how I love the earthy, organic feel here and how their business intentions mesh with conserving nature, promoting the arts & preserving historic architecture! The rain plan is great! We once did a ceremony & cocktail hour under the tent and it was so romantic. Can't...

We chose Tyler Arboretum for our upcoming spring wedding and we could not be more excited! The number one reason we booked Tyler was because of the beautiful grounds and barn. We've even gone back to Tyler on our own since booking just to enjoy the trails. A very close second reason we chose Tyler was because of the exclusive caterer at this venue, Jeffrey A. Miller. At other venues, I quickly became overwhelmed thinking about having to choose a caterer, rentals, and coordinating everything myself. Not to mention that the costs quickly started adding up! JAM is so inclusive with their services that you could truly stick to their lowest tier package and have a wonderful wedding. At Tyler, JAM does only 1 wedding per day and it will take place after hours leaving you with all 600+ acres for your private event (golf cart included to make the most of your time!). I don't think it gets any better than that! JAM at Tyler has made the planning process as stress free as possible at a surprisingly affordable cost for everything they do. Highly recommend for any event or even to just spend a day...

We are members at Tyler and enjoy coming here with our kids, there is always so much to do. We love hiking and Tyler offers some terrific trails, our kids especially like the Blue Trail which has multiple water crossings and a point that intersects with the Red, Orange and White Trails at Dismal Run where they can climb boulders in the creek and explore. We also enjoy the paved loop and my kids still enjoy visiting the now aging treehouses. A seasonal favorite is seeing the goats which visit in the summer to eat down grass and weeds. Lots of other things to see including the fairy trail, a maze, the gobblin shack and Thoreau's house, the pond, and a new edible garden project is underway (which has closed the butterfly house). We often bring a picnic lunch and set up on the lawn apart from the official picnic area. If you are a plant person, they have plant sales seasonally as well as lots of seasonal programs for adults and kids. Recommemd...

I recently visited Pink Hill, a serpentine barren at Tyler Arboretum @TylerArboretum in Delaware County, PA. What an interesting and incredible place - full of fascinating geology, history, and of course, botany! The site is named after the pink flowers of Phlox sublata - the Moss phlox - which, during spring, spatter the ancient parts of this grassland like a fine mist. Luckily, I was there to witness the Phlox in peak bloom! Though it is common in the landscape, it was totally cool to see it in the wild with its wild pollinator friends. With the help of numerous other parties including Dr. Roger Latham, Tyler Arboretum recently executed a tremendous restoration project to restore sections of this area that were historically serpentine barrens. As organic matter built up and the soil thickened, woody shrubs and trees encroached, which caused a slow by significant loss of habitat for these grassland species. To restore the barrens, they removed all of the trees and shrubs and brought in machinery to actually scrape away the built-up organic matter (top soil) to rerelease the serpentine soils underneath. In the years since, the grasslands have done quite well at bouncing back. Seeds in the seedbank and ones that were blown in from the ancient section (which is believed to have been serpentine barren for the last several thousand years) have begun to recolonize. The site is now maintained with prescribed burns to keep woody plants at bay. Please consider joining the Philadelphia Botanical Club - you don’t have to be an expert! As long as you’re interested in plants and cool botanical topics, we’d love to have you! #plants #serpentine #serpentinite #serpentinebarrens #botany #botanical #pinkhill #phloxsublata #phlox #sublata #mossphlox #tylerarboretum #trees #restoration #ecologicalrestoration #ecology #rareplants #flowers #gardening #garden #grasslands #grassland #ecosystem #fyp

Spent the day at Tyler Arboretum in Media, PA, and wow, this place is a hidden gem for families! It’s such a peaceful spot full of beautiful trails, gardens, and the coolest treehouses that kept my toddler entertained for hours. If you’re looking for an easy family day trip, this is such a great option - toddlers can run, climb, and explore safely while parents get to soak up some nature. And here’s the best part — you can visit for FREE with a Delaware library card through the Delaware Museum Pass Program! Just go to the Delaware Libraries website to reserve your pass and get all the details. We’ll definitely be back - this is one of those places you can visit every season and still find something new to explore. Be sure to pack your sneakers and lots of snacks! And I highly recommend babywearing over lugging the stroller because some of the trails are gravel on hills (IYKYK!). Lmk if you’ve ever been, what you thought! 📍 Tyler Arboretum, 515 Painter Road, Media, Pennsylvania ✨Hi!
