9/13/25 2pm - absolutely terrible experience and service, not âkidâ or ânon-memberâ friendly. my bf and i met up with his parents and 2 of their friends and we brought along his younger brother and his bf. they are both 18y/o young men that obviously cannot drink (our designated drivers) and my bf and i are both 24y/o hard working ADULTS with full time jobs as an engineer and nurse respectively. we both have spent previous years working in the serving/bartending industry so we know how customer service should work. 4 seats per table outside so we took up 2 tables, there were probably a total of 5 tables outside. this was positively NOT okay with this one gray haired white lady who i later gathered is the owner. we were all enjoying the 4 pizzas we bought from the food truck that was parked in their lot and the âadultâ table had gotten 4 wine flights for themselves as they waited for us to arrive, also enjoying the lovely live music. i tried a few sips and the wine was not that good at all but nevertheless, i was going to go inside to order myself at least a flight. absolutely great pizza from bristow food truck btw. this woman comes out to us with a sour look on her face (which i spotted before she even said a word) and a snarky attitude and first asks the âadultâ table if theyâre doing okay/need anything and then says âwhatâs up with you guys?â pointing at our table of me, my bf, his brother and his bf. âyouâre taking up space and not drinking any wine?â snickers and then walks away. we all promptly decided to finish what we had already paid for and leave. my bfâs mom went inside and told her she was rude and then this woman comes back out as weâre actively leaving to make another comment. I was halfway to the car by this point and didnât hear exactly what she said but I know it was something along the lines of âi canât have your kids taking up space. there are wine members who couldnât sit outside because of youâ. we spent plenty of money at your establishment and wouldâve spent much more had it not been for this horrible wretched woman. i donât care about your âwine membersâ, in fact they were just as rude and entitled as the owner đ. we planned to stay a decent while longer but went to bohemia manor instead which is miles better. do better broken spoke, maybe invest in some more seating if you can afford it since you seem to enjoy scaring off so many paying customers. i also wonder if there is some homophobia and racism rooted in her mind as one of our 18y/o is not white. trust me when i say the owner has stated multiple times that she does not want any kids or non-drinkers at her winery (despite the petting zoo). i wonder if she expected us to drink until we blacked out on her yucky wine and drive ourselves home? Thea, just update your website and you can avoid a similar situation in the future. you can call my job all you want, you do not scare me and i will never...
Read moreRecently I and some friends attended a concert there in early July. The place is nice and they have have a few animals there, and for the most part the staff is friendly, however, just be warned that no liquid including water, is allowed on the premise. Before we entered i was instructed to dump out the ice water that i had in my tumbler/water jug and the people there at the front said that it can be filled at a water cooler. However when we went in I asked if they could please tell me where was the water cooler. The person stated that you can only buy water and they do not have a water cooler. So as I was leaving to go into the barn area where the concert was being played, I did see a water cooler but I wasn't sure this was for customers since I was just told you have to purchase water also it was extremely hot inside that day so I knew I was going to be uncomfortable. Finally one of the people in my group told me that other people were getting water from there so they said they will fill my container, since I am disabled and have difficulty walking. They brought it back, and unfortunately it was very warm and had an earthly like taste. So, unfortunately, I then had to purchase some bottle water because I was feeling dehydrated. Unfortunately I had to end up leaving half way through because of how uncomfortable I was due to being thirsty and I went to the car, where I had water in a cooler and waited until it was almost over when my friends came out. Unfortunately since it was so packed there were no handicap spots available so we had parked in the fields where unfortunately there is alot of uneven terrain so due to my disability I didn't want to risk falling going back and forth to get some fresh cold water from the car and I did not want people to miss any part of the concert walking me back and forth to the car. I did however end up calling Broken Spoke today and I did talk to a nice lady who explained why they do not let any liquid in and when I had mentioned about the warm water that had tasted earthy she said that it should of not been that way and she said she believes it is filtered. I guess to summarize Broken Spoke is a nice place however they should mention on their web site that no liquid is allowed so people can know what is allowed since all of the other wineries do allow water in and i have been to numberous wineries and breweries in this area as well as south Jersey, Delaware, the Finger lakes in upstate NY,...
Read moreI reviewed Broken Spoke Winery five years and it was great. So much has changed I wanted to write a new review but you can't do that so I'll just edit the old one. We can on a Thursday around 2:39 when it was slow. Consequently, we were blessed with having Rob, one of the owners who is also the winemaker, give us a very personalized wine tasting and explain a lot about how he works his magic. So very interesting! We found the wines to be exceptional and came away with several bottles. There is a new, really cool, wine tasting bar. Gotta love the horse saddles as chairs!! They've changed up the inside a bunch as well. I'll leave my original post below for reference. We'll be back soon!!
Old Post - We spent an afternoon at Broken Spoke Winery. What a lovely, cozy place! Everything here is well thought out, creative, attractive and inviting. The staff and owners were delightful and friendly. The wine was very tasty and a great variety with something for everyone. The cheese plate was the best Iâve ever seen at a winery with all the many tasty morsels. We will be inviting friends to join us for...
