We had been on a grist mill kick lately and this was the second one we went to. The website gives the impression it's still working. There was road work happening that we knew nothing about so we had to figure out how to get to Bost in the first place. It would have been helpful if their website advised of the road closure and given info on how to bypass it.
When we arrived it was just the old mill building. Not near a river. No water wheel. Just a store in the old building. They do sell meats but we didn't get any so I can't speak to that, however, there were very few grain based items for purchase. Read moreI've driven past Bost Grist Mill my entire life and finally stopped by to see what it's all about. When I was a child the grist mill was located across the street in front of Rocky River. I don't know why they relocated the mill to it's current location but the setting is absolutely beautiful. The mill was in operation in the 1800's. Can you imagine if those weathered boards could talk? I highly recommend visiting Bost Grist Mill, for it's history, the lovely location and a chance to get a glimpse of Cabarrus County history.
