What do the kids do on snowdays in mid-Michigan? They head to Midland City Forest to go sledding with their friends and family🛷 We love to see all generations getting outside and doing what makes them feel alive! There’s so much to do at Midland City Forest in the wintertime - enjoy a large ice rink, groomed sledding hill, take a ride down the toboggan run, or warm up with some cocoa in the City Forest Chalet❄️ #michigan #michiganwinter #sledding #sleddingdrone #dronefootage #winterdrone #sleddinghill #michigandestinations #getoutside #winteractivities #winteractivitiesforkids #gobealive #bealive #momentsmatter #momentsthatmatter #sleddingfail #sleddingfun #sleddingday

Winter experience review: It's tough to find fault with City Forest. The sledding hill is open even when conditions elsewhere are impossible ( they have a snowmaker), the food prices are cheap ( Koegel dogs!) and the atmosphere is all family friendly. They rent sleds, toboggons and cross country skies, poles and boots by the hour at low prices. There is a chalet to relax in with wood tables and benches. The day we were most recently there, the temps were in the mid 40's and sunny ☀️ skies. Perfect sledding conditions, although both the ice skating rink and the tobaggon run were closed. The hill is moderate with some built in moguls ( kids love it) and has snow dividers to try to keep sledders in " lanes". Like any sledding hill, parents need to be careful and make sure kids are aware of others coming down the hill behind them. ( Indeed, the last 2 times I was here sledding there was minor incidents) Cross country skiing here is great, weather provided. City Forest is groomed on a regular basis, but is also heavily used and my experience is that the trails are usually tracked in by use. No challenging "expert" trails here, mostly moderate to flat wooded skiing. (Try Pine Haven near Sanford for hills) There is also a lighted trail here. Biking here is excellent, but I will leave that for another review. A cheap family day outdoors is tough to beat!

Great multi-use trail system! From horses to sled dogs (yep! You read that right!) Mountain bikes to runners. Good, technical riding for MTB. Even has some wood-slat features. You can tell folks put some sweat into this beautiful trail system. You're sure to see some critters as you explore this gem. With lots of options, there's versatility to make your experience as long or short as you wish. It may take some trial and error to learn the layout. Only criticism is that the trails can sometimes be unclear. There are some maps, but those can be difficult to interpret and few and far between when you get deeper into things. By far, still very enjoyable! Be safe and friendly out there!

The ONLY reason I didn't give this place 5 stars has unfortunately nothing to do with the place itself but the people. I've been here more times than I can count and I routinely run into people with aggressive dogs off leash. I constantly have to worry if my smaller dog will be atta ked but other than that its a great park! Lots of trails for hiking, cross country skiing and biking. Great place for foraging mushrooms throughout the year. Some trails accessible to horses as well. And the best part is the TOBOGGAN RUN! They have 4 runs, a sledding hill (bring your own) and skating rink (rentals available). They have a chalet to warm up in that also has concessions. (You can also rent...
