Very interesting place to learn about the colonial life of Georgia. Each room is nicely made up with artifacts. This is a non-profit organization so they run solely on donations. Please be sure to go by and visit and learn about how Dorchester, Darien, Savannah, Sunbury, and other parts of Georgia got their names. This is a tour ran place and it's worth the history lesson. So be sure to go by and check it out.

Saw the sign while riding my road trip on us hwy 17 north. It was very educational and interesting. My guide was superb and she recite history and facts like an audio book. I learned some trivia and saw a lot of fabulous pieces. No you cannot take pictures so please be obliging. It took just over an hour. Well worth the stop. They have a bookstore also.

Unfortunately the museum was closed when we were in the area but we were able to see the building along with the grounds from the street. We hope to go back one day and tour the inside. It appears to have a lot of local history captured inside.

Highly recommended place.. Looks like a small place from outside but when you step in is like being in a time capsule. So much to see and appreciate, the place is neatly preserved and all the displays are in great shape. Kitty guided us on the tour and she is like a walking source of knowledge, explaining and showing us all the artifacts in the museum. I wish photography was allowed to document or keep record of so many important and historic items of the era and area, from sword, arms and weapons, uniforms, book and record keeping, flags, furniture, musical pieces, toys. Great library and book shop. If you are in the area you have to visit this gem of a place and the admission price is less than one of those ridiculously overpriced and overrated coffee drinks from Starbucks. This place is great even without the possibility of visiting the cemetery or the church.... Stop by..... you will be happy you did

Enjoy......and thx...

Amazing historical tour of this home! Kitty was our tour guide and one if the most knowledgeable guides we've had since our visit to the Savannah area. Actually, Kitty gave such a fantastic tour, the best out of 7 homes we've toured through Savannah. She encouraged questions and was able to answer questions on every piece asked about in the home. Our tour was about 2 hours! Phenomenal! The home had beautiful artifacts and they took care to provide seating for guests to relax during the tour. My husband is the true history buff and he was able to chime in with questions and I enjoyed everything that was shared! If you want to learn some great history and see a fantastic home, you must visit the Midway Museum! The other 2 ladies that toured with us were awesome! They were part of the historical society and added some great info too! Enjoyed their company as well! They are a non-profit, so any help is appreciated...

Driving to Savannah via the scenic route, we cruised past the museum and turned right around. I'm so glad we did. Docent Midge is a marvelous guide and storyteller. She does an outstanding job weaving together a multitude of seemingly unrelated historical threads to create a vivid picture of place, time, and colorful characters. When we took the tour on a weekday afternoon, we were joined by a group of four who walked in shortly after we had started. Midge seamlessly landed us all on the same page without losing a beat. I highly recommend this enjoyable, enlightening tour. There's nothing like seeing up close how the people who came before us worked and lived. When our tour ended, I walked across the street to the cemetery (shown in photo), where I was able to find the graves of some whose stories we'd heard and appreciate the role of the local church, whose own history is pivotal to the settling of...
