Horseshoe Bend is a great place to go to hike. The Little Sioux River winds through and there's plenty of wildlife to see. The terrain is varied and there usually are few if any people there. It is fully reopened now that the bridge has been replaced. Attached are a couple pictures for my recent hike on November 24th with my dog Fergus.

Good sledding hill with a tow rope. There is very little on-site supervision, but there is a good observation deck and a warming house with a fireplace. Both offer excellent views of the hill.

Will upgrade my review based on helpfulness of other local guides available information. I appreciate any suggestions because I have never kayaked north of Spencer area. Horseshoe Bend is an excellent place for any family recreation winter and summer. With camping, picnics and large groups of people enjoying their lives in sobriety. Only minimum of maintenance is being done there. But it is a nice and quiet place. It is clean, and the restrooms are clean and real. It looks like more people should use it, then maybe the county would fix a few of the benches. I am sure that it was a wonderful park back in its prime.
