The hike to San Andreas Lake begins at the Sawyer Camp Trail. The entry gate has a monument of the Portola Expedition. This Expedition is accredited with the founding of the San Francisco Bay. The Sawyer trail is approximately 6 Miles. Along the Sawyer trail we observed wild turkeys, many water foul, and squirrels. The Sawyer trail is very well kept and clean. We originally traveled to the area for the San Andreas Dam and Lake. Our hiking trip along Sawyer trail was over 3 hours and we absolutely enjoyed our visit. I recommend a visit if you have never seen Crystal Springs up close...
