It's a good sized beach with plenty of free parking and even has on duty lifeguards. There is a playground and picnic area as well as a concession stand and public bathrooms. The views are nice.
As for the downsides, the beach is absolutely covered with water fowl feces from the water line up the beach about 2 feet. It's literally similar to dodging landmines walking down the beach if you don't want to step in poop. There is also a lot of plastic scraps in the sand. I realize it's a free beach and that's probably why no one combs it, but I think that even a single beach comb a week would do wonders for cleaning up...

We went to 11 bc it was voted on the news as the best beach in PA. Unfortunately when we went there was the now typical Canada wildfires happening so you could see smog in the air (no sun). We were on a code orange air quality I guess. They also had an algae overgrowth so there was no swimming. There was a dead seagull in the water by the sand. It just wasn't that great.

Β Β Β Read moreSupposed to be the temporary wheelchair beach while beach 7 is under construction & sand replenishment, but after driving for 20 minutes to the furthest beach on the peninsula, you cant get from the parking lot to the walkway unless you park on the beach which you get yelled at for & you get blocked in by other cars, it's full of biting bugs and the wheelchair walkway is a few hundred feet from the water as you can see in the pic.
