Great park.. no rest rooms in newly enlarged unpaved lot.. some trails closed during eagle birthing season which lasts about 6 months.. JORBA built and installed new trails.. then polluted the entire park with no hikers on bike trail signs.. bike crossing signs , and bike trail ends signs.. hiker are forced to share their designated trails with bikes but bike trails are off limits to hiker.. the dumbest and worst miscarriage of trail improvements I've ever seen.. what a crock! Just might as well let the bikes takeover a park they weren't permitted to use prior to my recollection. I Intend to call the nature conservancy about this BS. Ridiculous. Ever go to the Wissahickon Park in philly.?? . bike and hikers get along on nearly all trails.. bike speeds are restricted to 8 mph and all bikes are required to have warning bells.. hikers have trails that are off limits to bikes for good reasons... Ridiculous over reach here by the bike organization and the literal sight pollution of the entire park. If bike traffic within the park was considered so hazardous to other users, it should never have been encouraged or permitted to begin with . Embarrasing and...
Read moreGreat trails - loops that connect to one another so you can add as much or as little. Impossible to get lost. Some little hills give a great workout. Plan your walk ahead of time or bring your phone to access the maps (plenty of cell service). Plenty of parking. There are no bathrooms or porta potties on site though. Blue trail: a mile that meanders along the Maurice river. A walkway gives great views of the river in both directions. A few nests visible across the river. It seems the local boatersay have scared them away. I think this section is rerouted Jan 1 thru July 31 for wildlife protection. There is an alternate blue route cutting thru the White loop: northern most section. Red trail: a mile loop. There is a small bridge across a wet area. It's a little loud from the local traffic. White loop: northern most section. Some ruins visible. Some isolated picnic tables. Separate bike trails blazed yellow to ride on. There are visible warnings so you know when you are crossing the bike trail. The trail riders were...
Read moreBeautiful trails for both hiking and biking. There are breathtaking views of the Maurice River from elevated bluffs to river level beaches. Bird watchers, bring your binoculars because there is a lot to see. There are scattered benches and picnic tables throughout to rest and relax. Wear comfortable and sturdy footwear as there are several sets of stairs to climb. Just an FYI, this is an environmentally sensitive area, and there are certain types of birds that nest in areas where the trails run. Part of the Blue trail is closed from January 1st through July 31st. There are more than enough trails to compensate for this closure. If you like to mountain bike, you're going to love this place. I would suggest arriving early, as this place gets quite busy on any given weekend. Lots to see and well...
