If I would give zero stars I would. I had been going here my entire life but its really gone down hill. We went there for the labor day weekend. Saturday night some large men got in my 16 year olds face & threatened him because he was playing with a large group of kids & one of them grabbed my sons arm as he ran from the other kids and when he pulled his arm away she was accidentally hurt. These men threatened to do physical harm to my son while yelling at him inches from his face. They then asked him to go get his parents, so he did. When we walked over to talk to the adult men threatening our son, I stepped up to the cabin where the people were camping and asked for the people who had threatened my son. I was upset but not yelling or being aggressive. I had a large black man come stand right in front of me immediately followed by a hoard of mostly black people with a few white people surround me screaming threats and calling me names. A women reached through the crowd and violently pushed me from behind. At this point even more mostly black men and women came out and also surrounded my son, fiance, and cousin who were waiting behind me on the road. My son was scared for my life so he managed to get through the crowd to me and we tried to leave. A group of 20-30 people followed us down the road calling us names and threatening us, getting inches from my fiance and child's face threatening to cause hard. A large man jumped through the crowd and hit my son in the chest pushing him violently. Luckily I had my cell phone so I called 911 and the police came quickly. The police officer said we had a wall of people behind us when she showed up, which was true. We were lucky the police were close by or it would have been much worse. We repeately asked them to stop following us but they refused. The police broke it up but really did nothing. The guy Mike working there said he was too tired to deal with the situation and the people at the camp were too drunk to ask them to leave. The next day we went to the office to talk to the grounds keeper who had not come talk to us as he said he would and he informed me that we were getting kicked out and so were the other group. After talking with the supervisor about the situation because we did not understand why we were being kicked out when we did nothing wrong, he said it was up to the Mike guy. While I was talking with him the man who originally verbally attacked my son came up there to the office. His girlfriend came too and told me I was "white Trash". The black man said he was going to refuse to leave so Mike called the police. After talking with this man and his GF for a while the officer came over and told us we were being kicked out but the group of people who verbally and physically attacked us were going to be able to stay. We could not believe it! After all we went through, my underage son and I both being physically assaulted, they kicked us out and allowed the other people to stay. It was like we were in the twilight zone! I called Mike to get his supervisors information and asked him if he was really kicking us out after they assaulted us and he told me he no longer believed us that we were ever assaulted. We packed up and left and the next business day called the blue earth county office to ask for a refund of our money after this traumatic event. The supervisor refused to refund us our money and didnt even call me back. Its not a safe place and they will allow people to violently victimize you and you will be kicked out rather then the violent offenders. I wouldn't bring your kids to this place. We still cannot believe this all happened. I would never recommend this place. We were here for the 4th of July as well and while I was trying to bath my children in the bathrooms, two black men were fighting outside the door. We should have taken this as a sign and never went back. Unfortunately, we assumed that was a one time event but we were definitely wrong. If youre looking for a safe and peaceful place to camp with your family, I would not choose this...
Read moreLet's start with the positives. Overall the park is really pretty. Lots of green areas and easy, walkable trails. The lake is beautiful but very busy with skiers. The beach looks lovely (though we haven't visited yet). Lots of birds singing, squirrels foraging, even saw a bald eagle fly just a few feet above our heads. Now for the not so good. The bathhouse is pretty dated and poorly lit. When we arrived there was no TP in either of the women's stalls but the caretaker fixed that as soon as I let him know. We booked site 15 which was listed as a back-in site for RVs/MHs with electric and water. However, the site itself is so poorly graded that's there's no way of leveling a MH on it. It's like they dumped a bunch of class 5 but forgot to spread it out. The water spigot is over by site 14, so you have to run your water hose through your campsite to connect to your camper. The site does back up to the lake and has some nice trees for shade so that's good. The caretaker was terrific though he couldn't change us to a different site because the grounds were fully booked. If we weren't traveling with friends we would have broke camp, ate the reservation costs, and headed back home. The net of this review is that the campground is nice but avoid site 15 unless...
Read more2023.08 The playground was gone and under construction. They had just laid the concrete sidewalk. The beach is really rocky, so pack water shoes. Fortunately, the volleyball court has fine sand to play if it's not burning hot. Be mindful if you're packing a lot for the beach and pulling a wagon or stroller, there's no accessible pathway from the parking lot to the beach. The sheltered picnic area has three separated patios, but they all connect via stairs through one entryway. Not stroller or wheel friendly.
The restrooms were clean and available when we visited.
Signs say no dogs allowed, but visitors brought their leashed dogs to walk and swim.
Rentals are available as well as a snack bar.
No lifeguard was on duty or...
