It's really difficult to rate Jackpot Junction. I would love to give this place a higher rating due to the really fantastic people who work here! Also please note, I didn't go to the actual casino so my rating is based on the hotel only. Don't let this dissuade you from giving the casino a try. I'm going to give a short summary and then list the pros and cons.
We stayed for 3 nights (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) while visiting family in a nearby town.
Check-in was a bit complicated but the staff was really fantastic about it. We had to jump rooms 3 times before finally getting a truly wheelchair accessible room. That wasn't very fun. The front desk locked the room type into our profile which was nice. We Originally had reservations for 2 nights. After staying the 2 nights, a situation came up that made a third night necessary. The front desk was fast about securing the room we were currently in so we didn't have to move. Really, every employee at Jackpot we encountered was wonderful. Our room was very clean despite some issues. The bed was also very comfortable. The room we had was a King accessible. There were some issues in the room, mainly accessibility issues which I'll list in the pro/con area... the issue specific to our room I'll put here is that the bathroom door didn't close.
WiFi at Jackpot Junction isn't steady and is slow so plan for that. It's also public. We had spotty cell service in our room but out in the parking lot it was excellent. If you place a hotspot in the window of your room, cell service works great.
Food options are decent. Brunch on Sunday is excellent. The rest of the time it's ok to decent. I'll get around to reviewing the actual restaurants at some point soon!
Pros: The staff at Jackpot Junction are fantastic!! Clean rooms Very comfortable bed/bedding Fun arcade The crowd in general at Jackpot is for the most part just really friendly. I love getting and giving a "hello" and "have a great day" and that was near everyone at this hotel. Good prices. Nothing was overpriced. From the room to a bottle of Gatorade, everything was reasonable. Accessibility: can roll/turn around on both sides of the bed in the king accessible room Accessibility: can see yourself in the mirror/fully roll under sink in bathroom in king accessible room Accessibility: Java Junction on main level has one of the best accessible stalls in a bathroom I've seen.
Cons: Understocked towels in the bathroom. Two bath towels, 3 hand towels, 2 wash cloths for two people... Individuals with long hair can't dry their hair with a hand towel. Perhaps I'm the only one but I use more than 1 washcloth myself. This was the first time I've encountered so few in a hotel room. Bad WiFi. It goes in and out, is slow, and it's fully public. I wish they'd have a split guest and public WiFi. Top it with even the fastest VPN and it's crawling. Unfixed maintenance issue- in our room, the bathroom door didn't close. Hand Soap is next to the outlet. Husband was concerned with this. I'm not sure it was truly an issue but I put a picture up in case it is. Accessibility: the only truly wheelchair accessible rooms are King accessible. I'm concerned that individuals in wheelchairs who need 2 beds have no options. The 2 queen accessible is NOT wheelchair friendly at all. Accessibility: in the roll in/seated shower, the soap is set extremely high above the seat. It's push style and not reachable for a seated individual. Accessibility: the bath towels are too high to reach in a wheelchair in the wheelchair accessible room. Accessibility: the bathroom door opens into the bathroom in the wheelchair accessible room. Accessibility: the hand shower was placed at the top of the bar when we came into the room. No idea how I was supposed to get that down in my wheelchair. Accessibility: Can't reach the iron in the wheelchair accessible room. Accessibility: med to low toilet in king accessible room (tho...
Read moreMy party has had miniscule luck while playing here, though I've noticed many others reaping rewards of handpay's sporadically throughout the day and night. Also, their drawings that are held are worth attending if you're in the area because they are usually calling 5 names to come play a game which boasts free cash or slotplay in the range of $200-$500 per contestant. The rooms were common and basic, with a t.v. and an alarm clock/charging station, but that was about it for amenities, though I do have to mention that their bathtubs are deeper than any other standard bathtub ever noticed in any other casino, which makes nice soaking accommodations if the community hot tub doesn't suit your fancy. No microwave, no fridge, no safe. (though there is a community microwave down in the hotel lobby, along with plasticware and a vending machine with varying snack items). The pool and hot tub areas are nice and snug, with a sauna attached, and on the 2nd floor above the pool entrance they have an arcade with somewhere between 8-15 fully operating machines at any given time. All around staff seem to be cordial at least, and the hotel staff were able to hold our belongings in their back room for over 24hrs. while we dealt with an unexpected automobile issue that turned out to be a bigger deal than we expected. And a big SHOUT OUT to the security and maintenance team for the patience, assistance, and genuine concern they showed us around Christmas of 22' when our van had slipped the serpentine belt off, and amidst negative degree weather and whiteout winds and ice I spent nearly 3 days trying to get my belt back on without the luxury of a disengaged tensioner pulley, as I stripped the fittings trying too hard to do both jobs at once. But the job was successfully completed, and it wasn't without the patience and understanding of the security and maintenance team whom allowed our vehicle to sit idle in the same spot for 3 days while I had the hood popped and was crawling all around trying to find a solution to my dilemma. They also offered the use of a few of their tools, since I had foolishly left mine behind, and aside from checking in periodically with me to make sure that I had any help they could offer, they also jump started my vehicle for me when I did finally finish the job, and again when I re-parked and forgetfully shut my van down for too long in the unrelenting artic temperature. I've been to many casinos in my time, and the majority of them are quick to let you know that if you are causing them distractions or otherwise preventing new guests from coming or going, that your business is welcomed elsewhere, but these gentlemen were just that, gentlemen with the ability to show that they have hearts and compassion. My entire trip to this casino wasn't the dream opportunity that I always hope for, but in all actuality could've been a lot worse than it was, we're it not for the extra mile that I was granted by...
Read moreThis was our first time here and I must say I was not impressed. We drove over two hours to check this place out. There were a few good things, such as; it has a nice size gaming floor, it is clean, friendly staff, not much smoke. The things we didn’t like, started with Bingo. I can keep up with the caller at almost anywhere I go. But playing 18 cards was a disaster. By the time I got almost done with one number she was onto the next and I wasn’t even caught up. The ventilation for smoke was. It the best. It is a smaller room and the smoke was awful. The employees messed up on our boards and gave us the wrong ones. We spent almost $300 and had a mess of issues.
We are at the restaurant and I must say it was not what we expected. It was more towards unhealthy choices. Lots of fried foods. The Chicken Wild Rice soup had ZERO flavor. Almost like it was made with water. I added salt and pepper and it didn’t even help. The texture was okay, but maybe the chef should try it before he sends it off to the guests. I had the cheesy potatoes and they tasted just like canned potatoes. It was rather disappointing. The rolls you could tell had been thawed and reheated because they were hard. The chicken was extremely overcooked and crusty and the veggies were cold.
Rooms - we are used to a king size bed and ended up with 2 double beds. My wife is 5’2” and she could touch the bottom of the bed, I am not sure how someone 6’ would be comfortable.
The tv in the room was super tiny!!! Come one, upgrade the tvs and add a mini fridge for the guests. I was rather frustrated when we had no fridge. One thing I will never understand is why supply guests with the CHEAPEST toilet paper? All that comes from that is using way more than needed. The toilet paper and Kleenex were super cheaper and harsh. We asked for extra blankets and none were ever delivered to our room. If you like flat pillows you will like these ones. The sheets were really itchy and crusty feeing. Nothing was soft and welcoming.
Morning coffee - we stood for 10 min and not one person greeted us and or said they would be with us shortly. There were 3 ladies working and only 1 couple sitting eating breakfast.
With all the other casinos around we were not a fan of this place. We love keno and couldn’t find a good .5 cent machine. The machines were...
