I had some questions prior to leaving for this adventure that I couldn't find answers to online. Im hoping this review helps answer those questions for others prior to their first visit.
There is a place to change on site so you dont need to worry about wearing wet clothes home. There is also a place to rinse off (no privacy and no hot water so dont expect to take a full on shower) before changing.
They have a "key wall" for tubers who do not have a waterproof way to take their keys with them while floating. We did not use that for 2 reasons:
We have a waterproof box that we bought specifically for our keys/phones while floating rivers.
It didnt seem very secure considering its on an exterior wall of the building. If staff is otherwise occupied, I assume it wouldnt be too difficult for someone to swipe some keys.
If you forget ice or need to top off your cooler, no need to worry, they sell ice!
This was pretty fun. I highly recommend going earlier in the season though. The first weekend of August has such a low water level that we hit rocks pretty consistently, which we were warned about prior to paying.
The spot where they drop you off is a smidge sketchy and I recommend you be very careful with your footing. We had 2 people in our drop off party that promptly fell, one with some pretty gnarly scrapes. There was no verbal warning or a sign to warn folks to watch your step. The embankments you must traverse to get to the water are covered with old carpet remnants that have been long covered with sand making them fairly slippery.
The water was pretty low and we spent a lot of time trying to get people in our party "unstuck", but that was solely due to our visit being so late in the season and water...
Read morePlease be careful, when they drop you off at the river mouth, you have to go downhill. For some reason they thought its a good idea to have old, sandy carpets leading down the hill. There was so much sand on the carpet that I completely lost my footing and got a pretty gnarly injury. Imagine the worst rug burn of your life with sand ground into it. I will be trying Charlie's next time.
Update 7/27: The old guy who hauls tubes is extremely rude. He told the group we were with to not take all night next time, as if we could rush the ride. I have updated my review from 2 stars to 1...
Read moreLots of rocks in the river so the ride wasn't as relaxing as we hoped since we constantly had to watch where we floated. We ended up hitting a large rock, popping a tube, and flipping over all our tubes that were tired together. The people running the place were less than friendly and the bus ride to the drop off site was less than pleasant. Upon arriving at the drop off the site the bus driver open the doors, threw our tubes at us and left. No instructions or making sure...
