I can't say enough great things about this place! I have lived here in the area for several years and somehow didn't make it here until this year. I went on October 30th and loved it so much I returned again last night on Halloween!
The houses are all very differently themed and there is so much attention to detail. I can't imagine how much work went into making the rocky, winding passages in the Rock Monkey Caves, plus it has an amazing animatronic! The Rat Trap is a fun, disorienting maze with a very cool feature of winning a prize if you can find a key within that opens a certain lock. The newest attraction, Taken, can be done with or without a blindfold; having gone through both ways, I definitely recommend putting on a brave face and trying it blindfolded! The Dark Circus is a really spectacular haunted house with some amazing features (the mirror maze was especially impressive). My favorite was Ward 13 - it takes a lot to scare me, and this was definitely successful on that front! I would have sworn several of the actors were props or mannequins until they screamed out and lunged at us. Don't let your guard down in this one!
Apart from the haunted houses, the team here is truly one of the best parts of the experience. The woman who works at the gift shop (where most of the attractions filter through at the end) is super friendly and welcoming. The ticket office staff is very quick and helpful. The woman who helps with the VIP experience by taking you to the front of the line at each attraction is wonderful (I literally never saw her without a smile on her face) and checked in with us wherever she saw us throughout the park during our visit. The actors are all very dedicated and believable, including those who are at the entrance to each attraction handling the line. The second night I went I got to meet the owner (Rick) who is an amazingly friendly, generous guy who obviously cares a lot about his staff, his attraction and his customers. Two compressors had broken down right before they opened last night. I feel like the majority of haunts I have been to in the past would have just closed those attractions for the evening, but not Rick and his team. They bought and installed two new compressors right away and the two attractions affected were back up and running less than an hour after the park opened. That's dedication!
Definitely check this place out! Great haunts, great actors, great team, great food, great all around! I will...
Read moreWent to Legend Park Haunted House on McKinley Ave in Mishawaka, IN last night. (10-13-17) BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES! Was charged full price for 6 attractions and they only had 4 open. Legend's kept that information quiet. You know what, they had a 4 attractions package price point, but didn't charge people that rate either. Website states park opens up at 7:00pm, but the ticket booth didn't open until 7:25pm. None of the attractions were ready until after 8:00pm.The Rock Monkey was first. It took less than 10 minutes to walk through.I'd rate it Okay. Only because the big robot Rock Monkey at the end. Went to the next attraction which was said to be new. The name was something with 13th in it. That attraction wasn't ready until after 9:00pm. You could tell that Legend had good intentions, but there wasn't a lot of directions and we end up over in the Cuckoo's Nest attraction. How did that happen? And why could it have happened. Very disappointed. Went over to the Sinister Circus and waited again. Just as our group was to enter, Legend's stopped everything and started a Fireworks show for the next 30 minutes. We didn't get into that attraction until after 10:00pm. In that attraction the actors kept pushing us and yelling at people to "hurry along, there's a long line outside". Had neat things, but the whole experience was yelling and telling you to hurry up and wait. The last attraction was The Cockoo's Nest. The entrance to that attraction was not marked well and if it wasn't someone pointing, we would not have thought to go over there. That attraction was much more organized. Very gruesome and disturbing to me. But after being yelled at and herded around from Sinister Circus. Having the actors yelling, pulling on your clothes and getting in your face in this attractions was annoying. But I don't want you to lose the really reason for this post. BAD BUSINESS PRACTICES. Taking the customers money knowing that you are not going to deliver a full package....
Read morePaid ahead of time online, 5 house combo fast pass for 2 people (@$185) to be sure we could get into each attraction with no issues because we were coming from Illinois. We arrive at 9p on a Saturday and it’s a dead park. The atmosphere is massive bright lighting all around the little “town” and pop music blasting over the speakers with actual 3 min long commercial breaks. Nothing screams Halloween mood like Taylor Swift and roofing commercials 🤦🏻♀️. No actors out and about, no actual scare decor, just dead space, so no feeling of Halloween what so ever. No live music, no entertainment, no midway games, no fire pits, no Wild West, no mining activity. It was literally ALL CLOSED. The petting zoo was 2 goats and a mini pony. Then, 1 of the 5 houses we paid for was shut down so out of luck on that also. The sinister clown house and ward 13 were decent, nothing much to say about the caves or taken. It was NOTHING like we expected from reading the website. Structurally, it’s a cute town like setting but it’s no where near ready or running for a Halloween experience. When they hit ready, the park itself will be more for a family type experience. We left feeling disappointed with buyers remorse. If this night was a fluke, I feel it would have been highly appropriate to refund some of our money but I get that it’s policy so that’s the risk we took. Sadly, I wouldn’t return or recommend to friends. I gave the 2nd star because the staff was very friendly and helpful and it has potential. If you do decide to go, don’t buy online, buy tickets once you can actually see...
