First time I took my dog here was a great experience. There were several dogs running around and playing together. The dogs were well behaved and the owners were paying attention and also picking up their dog's poo.
The second time I took my dog here was completely opposite. There was a man with 3 dogs he was attempting to watch. 2 of his dogs (Loki and Thor, GSD X Hounds, and brothers) constantly ganged up on, cornered, and were just overall not good park dogs. The owner would just yell at his dogs and was very loud, making sure to tell all the humans that his dogs were full of energy because they had been cooped up for 5 days (making excuses for his dogs poor behavior). Basically, people would show up with their dog and spend a few minutes there before leaving because of the behavior of Loki and Thor. I was able to observe 5 other dogs and their owners try to use the park unsuccessfully before I was irritated with listening to this man and left. Honestly, this man should have removed his problem dogs and let the other patrons utilize the park. If I ever show up to this park again and see this man and his dogs there I will likely not even bother getting my dog out of the car.
Dog parks are not for you to release your ill behavied dogs to gang up on other dogs. If your dog is presenting offensive behaviors to other dogs and forcing patrons to leave, YOU SHOULD BE THE ONE TO LEAVE to allow the dogs and owners who follow the rules to utilize the...
Read moreFor medium or large sized dogs, the dog park here is awesome. It's huge. Amenities include a nice area with shaded benches and picnic tables, arranged around a hose with clean running water. There's also a public bathroom (though I've honestly never gone in there), and old plastic shopping bags you can use to clean up after your dog. The landscape is a large field with a big hill on one side, and a perfectly sized wooded area that the hunting breeds seem to love - small enough you won't lose your dog, but big enough for them to run around in there. There's almost always a few tennis balls (and occasionally other toys) lying around for anyone to play with. At the busiest times, usually after work around 6:30, there might be 20 or 30 dogs here. The hours are technically dawn to dusk, though it's not clear to me that anyone ever actually locks the park.
There's also an area for small dogs that I've never paid much attention to. It also seems very nice, though it doesn't seem to have quite as much variety in the landscaping.
The park is free, and there's no registration of any kind. This is convenient, but it does also enable the biggest downside to this park, which is that there's no enforcement or guarantee that other dogs are sociable or have actually had vaccines. Thankfully I haven't seen this play out as a real problem yet in the few months I've...
Read moreAlways an amazing place to take my dog! There is a big dog park and a small dog park for safety reasons. The large dog park even has a wooded area with a trail so your dogs can run and sniff around. Both areas are very large where the dogs can run and run and run. It's great for socializing your dogs. If your dogs are well-behaved and good off a leash, you can even let them go outside of the dog park where they can run through an open fenced in field area or jump into the water and take a swim. There are bathrooms there but they aren't always unlocked. Careful with smaller dogs in the water because there is a current and I don't want your dog to get swept away so keep your dog on a leash while they swim like I do. I do see a guy with his German Shepherds jumping in and catching logs and bringing them back out all the time (no leash). THIS...
