We pulled into the Gulf Coast Gator Ranch and inquired about an airboat tour. Captain Frog was just about ready to take another couple out and was happy to have two more aboard.
After supplying us with ear protection we headed towards a bayou in search of alligators. It wasn't long at all before we sighted the first alligator. Or was it that he sighted us?
Not sure that marshmallows are nutritious alligator food, but Captain Frog tossed one if the water and the gator didn't hesitate to gobble it down.
We spun and zoomed all over this bayou as our Captain demonstrated how versatile an airboat is in this kind of an environment. He had a smile on his face as he showed off the capabilities of his craft. We thoroughly enjoyed the ride and the opportunity to see wild alligators up close.
Back at the ranch we met lots more gators. This is where "nuisance" alligators end up when they are captured in southern neighborhoods. A chain link fence separated them from us and allowed for some close-up photography without concern for becoming an alligator snack. We were able to feel how smooth their skin is by holding a youngster. A rubber band temporarily secured its jaws.
We stayed until feeding time. These animals that looked like they were asleep showed how quickly they could move when...
Read moreLoved it. A nice gentleman is working the counter as you walk in the building. Medium size gift shop with all things you can think of gatorwise. Shirts, gator heads, drinks, ice cream, and plenty more (but no Gatorade). They even have an electric chair you can try out too. We went out back to see the gators, and my lord, there everywhere. Big gators, real big gators! They all layup by the fence sunning. You can get gator food from the store to feed them. I do not know what the food it is, but looks like a big piece of turd. When you throw it out there those big gators hit that food hard. They have smaller gators in other areas separated from the beast. Then it was boat time! We rode the air boat and it was an absolute blast!! Sliding through the turns and going down the cypress trees. It was beautiful! It may look and appear scary, but it was a very smooth ride. Dave our captain was full of information on gators, plants and history, along with some good gator jokes. This destination met our expectations and it was a value for the money. I will be coming back and bringing some new guest....
Read moreThe wife and I visited this place 10/17/25 we are from northeast Ohio. It was her first time on a airboat I am originally from Florida and I have been on airboats a handful of times I am very impressed with the knowledge and experience our airboat captain has his name is John he is very funny respectful and a awesome airboat captain he was operating that airboat like he stole it haha my wife had a blast and cannot wait to do it again. The hole staff is very respectful the airboat tour includes walking the gator sanctuary they have some massive alligators in there one of them John estimated is 14 feet and 2,000 lbs what a awesome feeling it was to be up close in personal with a dinosaur. The airport tour is a half hr they allow you to walk the sanctuary as long as you want that’s another thing we really loved we weren’t rushed unfortunately we were not able to hold an alligator as we were told they are to big/small? Not 100% sure? we did not see many alligator’s on the airboat but doesn’t mean we didn’t have a blast. I highly recommend this place a vist if your...
