This campground has the potential to be a really nice park. Unfortunately the money that the park takes in does not go back into the lodging areas. Three of us with a baby rented a cabin #15 in August of 2024 only to be told that the cabin was no longer available upon arrival. We had been switched to cabin 6. No phone call before hand to let us know the cabin we requested and paid for was not available. Upon arrival to our cabin as I stepped out of my truck I noticed a syringe on the ground by the only door access to the cabin. So whoever cleaned the rental had to see this and just ignored it all together. The area outside the cabin was trashy and dirty. The concrete pad where the picnic table sits and the picnic table looked like it hasn't been cleaned in years. The porch to the cabin was dirty as well. The screen on the porch was mildewed and hasn't been washed forever. The inside of the cabin was a shock. 1 bedroom with 2 queen beds for 4 adults. Yes you have to sleep in the same room. The beds have plastic covers on the mattress and box springs so they are very loud and uncomfortable. The kitchen was so outdated. The stove barely worked, they had no microwave. The cabin says it is stocked with pots, pans and utensils. There was one small pot, no frying pan and 1 coffee cup. Lighting in the cabin was so bad at night you could not see to cook in the kitchen. We had to move a lamp from the bedroom so we could see at night to cook. There were light bulbs missing in every fixture. The windows were so dirty you could not clearly see out of them. The absolute highlight of this cabin was the AC. It worked really well. The park itself is beautiful and I read they have upgraded areas of the park which I never noticed. I was at this park 14 years ago and had the very same issues. So nothing has been done over 14 years to improve the cabins. I do not blame it on the workers at the park. The problem has to be the management. How can you rent these cabins in the condition they are in. Cabin #7 next to us had 8 adults and 1 child. The renter said there was one bedroom with 3 bunk beds (6 beds) and one small bedroom with a full size bed. So 3 couples had to sleep in bunk beds. Needless to say they left after only staying one night. We booked from Thursday to Sunday but left Saturday afternoon. So someone in charge, needs to step up and confront these issues at the park. for $100 a night I would of expected a little better. Also when you are searching for rentals they do not provide pics of those cabins before you rent them. So imagine the shock when guest expecting decent lodging arrive to find this. The RV park is the highlight of this park. That may be the only area upgraded as some of the RV area looked new. They mention a beach but its not really a beach. It is a very small area within the RV park that has been roped off. Signs on each side of the beach says " Beware of Alligators". Overall I gave this park a 2 star only because it is a beautiful park and the views of the lake are awesome. Otherwise I'm not sure it deserved a rating at all. Please do your homework before you commit to staying here. If not you're in for a...
Read moreWe stayed in Cabin 2 the second weekend of February. The last time I stayed there was about 15 years ago maybe. They did not change a single thing. And not in a good way. Pulled up and the outside looked the same. Went to the back screened in porch and it went downhill from there. They had a big hole in the ground, the boards were not there and some were loose. If you weren't careful, you could fall. The stairs leading down to the water, wasn't sturdy by any means. They did not have caution tape, signs, or anything about being careful with the holes or stairs. Went inside and the cabinet above the sink, MOLD. Around the light in the kitchen, MOLD. The bathroom to the right was basically flooded because the water was not turned off. We couldn't figure it out until the next day and it was a mess. The beds were from the 90s it felt like. We went to put our food in the fridge, the fridge wasn't as cold as it should be. Saw the top of the fridge cracked, wasn't sealing properly. So, we had to keep everything in the ice chests. We should've left. We didn't think it would get worse, but it did. Went to cook dinner and on the website it might say cookware, but that's a lie. Had 2 baby pans for eggs. Took a trip to DG to get a pot to cook in. Went back inside after dinner and they had roaches on the counter! And then in the fridge!! And they weren't big roached, they were the baby ones. No pans for biscuits and such, thank God I brought my air fryer and electric skillet thing. That's what we used to cook with. We woke up Sunday morning at 7 and was out of there by 7:30. We all felt disgusting and couldn't wait to leave. Went on the Nature Trail, if you want to call it that, and you have to BE CAREFUL. There was holes in the wood/walkway. Nothing was right. She said you can only go a mile in a half, I don't think it was even safe for that long. We shouldn't have stayed, we are still saying it til this day. Tuesday after 3 of us started feeling sick, we are thinking from the mold. I called on February 12th and spoke to a female and addressed all the issues we had. She wasn't aware of the mold, but I know someone definitely knows, and was "concerned" about everything else. She told me how the manager will call be back and maybe he can do something for us (not that I expect it or even holding my breath) and it's exactly a week later and I still haven't heard anything. They are apparently closing the cabins to get re-done. They shouldn't be even open right now. If I go back, I will find a camper because I won't stay in those cabins again. I'll go find...
Read morePros: The location of the cottages (NOT cabins) is absolutely STUNNING. The most amazing views right outside your cabin. Plus, you can pull your boat right up to the bank and park. This was incredibly nice. The air conditioning was amazing it stayed 69-70 degrees the entire weekend. The deadbolts on the doors are VERY secure. Good mount of clean towels and wash cloths.
Cons: The cabin was absolutely filthy and rotting. For $90 a night I don’t expect a five star hotel, but I do expect there to not be cobwebs, bugs, and filth every where. The TV was just on a piece of wood as it looked like it fell off the mount. There are numerous pieces of missing molding or it was just falling off. There were bullet holes by the back door (I figured from being an old fema house). So many bugs EVERYWHERE. There is a huge gap under the front door so bugs EVERYWHERE. The beds were awfully uncomfortable. There is nothing so be warned… no soap, trash bags, paper towels (which it’s camping so what do you expect just a heads up). The blinds are all torn and broken. It smelled really stale as if it had been closed up for a long time. Don’t even get me started on the heating closet.
Overall, the location is so beautiful and convenient that I am not against returning. I just would need an entire extra day added to my trip to clean before hand so it wasn’t disgusting. I understand everyone is short staffed right now and times are hard, but I just feel with a little more upkeep and maintenance this place could be better. Lots...
