Nice. Cozy. Chilly that weekend. Nice heating system. Had a mini kitchen with stove , microwave, coffee pot, & full fridge, flat screen TV, ONE bedroom, walk through, double door shower restroom, great room with couch, table and chairs, an enclosed screen back porch with a swing and an out door grilling and fire pit area. Oh, yes, we had a fireplace. No we did not use it. Our cabin was located on the lake, on a peninsula. Great view. Virgin sky. Beautiful constellations. No light pollution. The clouds illuminated the sky with and w/o the nearly half full waning moon. Felt safe. YET ITS SMOKE DETECTOR NEEDS REPLACING! WAS MISSING. DETACHED! A carbon monoxide detector would be nice, also. Along with perhaps a weather radio/alert system. We were close to other cabins but not too close. Trees, terrain , and water separated us. BE WARNED: parking was scary. Not a lot of room to maneuver. Not much room for error. I, paranoid me, feltl like we could have easily backed over a cliff and plunged into the lake. I was so ready to take my seat belt off & open my passenger side car door and power down tge window, just in case. PERHAPS more concrete blocks should be placed in the parking area. Relatively clean cabin. Some dusting was needed for spider & dust webs. Especially in corners of the ceilings and behind furniture like the bed, couch, and table and chairs. I think at least 7 cabins/cottages exist along with campsites for motor homes or tents. There are playgrounds and a restroom and a lodge. There are plenty of places to fish at the manmade reservoir dam controlled lake. There are kots of nearby restaurants and places of interest. Tupelo, MS, is nearby and interesting. The park ranger was fantastic!

We always love a quick and easy getaway to our favorite little State Park so close to home. If we forget something or need to run to work, we can get back to Tupelo in a few minutes. Cabin #2 is our preference with 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, and was nicely updated a few years ago with granite countertops and an open kitchen and living room concept...much more updated than when we first started staying there. It also has a lovely point for fishing and launching your kayaks. The deck across the back has a good patio table and view of the water, fire pit and grill. Sliding glass doors walk out to the deck from the living room and the bedroom with double queen beds. The front bedroom has one queen bed, so the cabin comfortably sleeps 6 people total without utilizing the couch. In the winter the fireplace is awesome. There are two ceiling fans, one in the double queen bed room and one in the living room. The lowest the air can be set is 68 degrees in the summer, which is comfortable, but may take a bit to catch up if nobody was there before you. The fridge is struggling a bit, but the flat surface stove works well. There is not a dishwasher, but there is everything on site to wash the provided dishes/pots & pans. There is cable TV with a small flat screen in the living room, but there is not internet that we are aware of. Bring chopping knives, scissors, cutting board, paper towels, and salt & pepper if you plan to cook. Bar soap and toilet paper are provided, but no other toiletries. At the park there is a great playground, volleyball court (bring your own ball) and a cool dock close to the main building.

the park itself Is beautiful, beautiful lakes for kayaking (they have rentals) or fishing, very small roads coming in to the park, no sign when you get close to the office to tell you stop and park in the overflow parking lot because if you go into the office area circle you won't get out unless you have a tiny RV, there are nice paved roads for riding bikes but I would definitely not suggest the trails in the woods as there are lots of roots and overgrowth, there are several items on the playground for kids and lots of picnic tables (some with covers), nice staff in the office, there is a guard shack towards the entrance of the park that seems unmanned and it is in a very odd place and we almost hit the roof with our fifth wheel, there are several dumpsters around the park and a dump station if you need it, there are several large pavilions with picnic tables, water pressure is good but the sites can be quite difficult to back into if you have a large rig (we thought we would flip over at one point). Elvis's birthplace and museum are maybe 15 minutes away, restaurants and stores are 15 min or so away
