Been to Ten Spoon many times. Great spot to bring visitors from out of town to just chill out and enjoy the stupendous views of Mount Jumbo after a hike, trail run, or dip in the creek.
Iâm really tired, as a certified sommelier and long-time hospitality industry professional, of people in town dragging the wines here. You donât go to a winery in the Northern Rockies for immaculate Burgundy with exquisitely complex tertiary notes. You go for something juicy that an unpretentious rancher could enjoy. And unpretentious is exactly what Ten Spoon is. Sure, there could be some more food options, sure, itâs not world-class wine, but TS needs to be appreciated on its own termsâitâs an agricultural conservation easement and one of the only businesses in the neighborhood thatâs a lovely place to chill out amidst the outdoor recreation delights of the upper Rattlesnake. Know what youâre in for, donât be pompous, and youâll have a wonderful time. Plus the staff wonât hassle you if you want to hang for a while on the lawn, and thereâs plenty of space for kids to play if you have âem. Not to mention you can often watch deer in any season and paragliders in the...
Read moreWhile traveling through the Missoula area, we were looking to soak in a bit of the countryside, and a winery felt like just the right stop. As we pulled in, it was clear something special was about to happenâballoons being blown up, the buzz of an event coming together. We soon learned it was for the West Side Theater, and even with all the preparations, the winery welcomed us with open arms. We were glad to lend our support with a donation to the cause.
They poured us a lovely flight without hesitation and even set us up with seats a little further from the bustle so we could enjoy both the wine and the setting in peace. The wines leaned to the drier sideâso if thatâs your style, youâll be delighted. The countryside here is stunning, the kind of place where the fields stretch out like gold, the leaves dance in the breeze, and the sunlight lingers just a bit longer. A beautiful stop for an...
Read moreHad an awesome time here! Was a solo traveler just passing through Missoula and found out they had live music the night I was in town (the band was great!). There was a really nice woman serving brick oven pizzas that were absolutely amazing. The bartender was also super sweet and gave great recommendations on their wines, especially since I donât like anything sweet and live by âthe bolder the better.â The winemaker came and introduced himself as well, which was really cool. I would absolutely come back and buy bottles of their wine and listen to their music in their vineyard in a heartbeat! I stayed for hours, which doesnât normally happen when Iâm traveling alone. :) Thanks for a...
