It's a decent large city "lake" near Jeff City, Mo for coming out to relax and look at some water and trees. For fishing, it's not really worth the effort. Over the last 10+ years I've visited and fished from the banks(fly, spinning rod and baitcaster from the docks) as well as kayak fishing. The lake itself has gotten more and more cluttered with trash (come on local fisherman!), snot and lilly's. Not to mention the abundance of geese (watch your step and carefull were you lay a blanket!). Its not like anything can be done about the geese but some better official and unofficial mgmt would help. It's a generally windy lake so sailboating is popular. Thats nice. I'm dismayed by the farm event cutting of a lot of large trees. I hope it was warranted for safety reasons. It certainly distracts from...

Fishing, sailboat rentals, playground, public restrooms, pavilion, disc golf course, & walking trails are all available at Jefferson City's Binder Lake west of town. If you're searching for a place in town where you can dip your toes into Mother Nature's beauty without having to travel out of the city, this is a great place to do so!! You'll see & hear an array of wildlife without the crowd. Park amongst the trees & their cover for an afternoon cat nap or park in one of the available parking lots. There are benches placed around the lake where you can watch the sun's rise & fall with the lake or bring your own camping chairs or blanket to relax with Mother E. Binder Lake will not...

Binder Park offers a more adventurous walking experience compared to other parks in Jefferson City. The trails wind through wooded areas and feel more immersive and natural, making it a great option if you're looking to get off the beaten path a bit. That said, I’d advise caution after any rainfall—the trails can get quite mucky and slick, which can make for a less enjoyable (or more challenging) walk.

Where Binder really shines, though, is the scenic drive around the park. Especially during the Christmas season. The holiday light displays are a local favorite and truly transform the area. I've heard its also good for kayaking although I've never...

Well maintained recreational area. Frisbee golf, volleyball, kayaking, fishing, softball, baseball, hiking, biking, and much more. This is a great place to enjoy being outside. Take the family or get some alone time. Very easy to access for the Jefferson City population. Some of the best single track mountain bike trails I've ridden in the state. As a recent beginner in learning to sail this is a great place to try it out. The Capitol City Sailing Association has friendly and enthusiastic members to show you the ropes (lines).

I love Binder Park so much. The lake is pretty and there are a lot of sporting areas. They also have a good disc golf course. This downright magical picture of the swan family( look for the 2 babies!!) is OC that I shot with a filter(night mode) on my camera phone just off the bank. That is not the sun, it is the moon. Just a beautiful place to visit and spend time.

My boyfriend & I & our dog went out walking today at Binder Park. On one of the trails, we saw some dead trees with squiggly lines. I looked closer & you can see some beetles have been very busy. I thought it was really interesting. Then further down the trail, I picked up some trash. Some people are too lazy to put it in the trash can.
