   Read moreI just completed a silent retreat, “Encountering Christ” at Conception Abbey. It was one of the most inspiring experiences I have had in years. From the moment I arrived and a monk opened the door of the guesthouse welcoming me, until I departed, I felt true hospitality. My private room was spotless and comfortable. The meals were delicious and nutritious. The conferences given by Fr Xavier were very interesting and sparked a desire to learn more.    Read moreOver 10 years ago (it is 2022 now) I visited this abbey to take a personal retreat. I didn't feel particularly welcome there. I tried to overlook that. Anyway I went to my assigned place in the guest house then and it was so filthy I knew I couldn't stay. I told the guest master that something came up and I had to leave.
