Great mill to visit. The current mill was built in 1867 and is the third to occupy this site. The original mill was built in 1800. Most of the original equipment has been removed except for the turbines and a set of 42” mill stones. There are several good examples of elevators, augers, rollers mills, and other equipment on display. The mill is no longer operated due to flood damage to the foundation. Beautiful area especially when everything is in bloom (growing season ) Before the big flood in 1986 when vehicle traffic ended. That bridge is well built as I seen the high water marks back in the late 1980's. It's worth the 25 minute drive from Cape Girardeau. Don't forget to stop in Jackson for snacks and beverages as there are no services out there...
