Little Prairie Conservation Area — Attraction in Missouri

It use to be nice for hiking and hunting, the fishing has kinda always been poor even with a boat. Too many things to catch your line on and not enough fish. It's still good for hiking sometimes but basically worthless for any kind of hunting with all the foot traffic, the horses, loose dogs and people riding their dirt bikes through there now. Even though horses and dirt bikes or four wheelers aren't supposed to be allowed there's no one out there to keep them from doing it so it's basically a free for all out there. So hunting is difficult and dangerous, and even hiking has become dangerous with people racing their dirt bikes down the paths. Best to go somewhere else now. It does have...

I recently tackled a hike of just over three miles on this trail. The route is primarily through a charming wooded area, with a delightful section that runs alongside the lake. On the practical side, there are two parking lots available for your convenience. One thing to note, during late summer and early fall, the trail is adorned with beautiful wildflowers, which is truly a sight to behold. Just spent an hour and a half hiking trails, deer paths and a little forging our own way too. Nice view of the lake! We had a good time, but I'd recommend having long sleeves and pants on since many areas of the trail had thorny branches growing into/over the path. We also didn't see an obvious way to walk all the way around the lake, but we could have easily missed something too. A definite recommendation, especially in the non-tick/chigger months.
