We stayed in Cabin 5 and pretty much got what we expected with the exception of cleanliness. The tile floors were filthy. We had to wear socks all the time just to keep our feet from sticking to the floors. These floors need a SERIOUS CLEANING. The carpet in the bedroom was also filthy. This needs to be removed and replaced with tile. The dinning room tables and chairs were filthy. They have not been cleaned in a very, very long time. They were sticky with grime and black filth. They were so disgusting that we couldn't even use them. The bathroom and kitchen were clean with the exception of the floors. The toilet would run (refill) every few minutes. We reported this to the check-in clerk.
Would I stay in these cabins again? NO!!! At least not until I could look at them first to see if the aforementioned issues have been resolved.
I'm not a prude. I don't expect 4 or 5 star accommodations with a cabin. But I do expect them to not be filthy. This cabin...
Read moreBeautiful area. We loved our cabin! Very private. Well, private for the most part, lol. We arrived back at the cabin, one afternoon, to a stranger car parked alongside the cabin. A lady was unpacking camping gear from her car, and stacking it on the rock wall of the driveway. She kept saying, "I'll be out of here in just a few minutes". She finally drove off about 20 minutes later, leaving her gear and a large cooler on the wall. 20 minutes after THAT, here she comes, walking up the trail directly behind our cabin. Over the next hour, she made 2 trips, back and forth to somewhere in the woods, with all her stuff, obviously planning on being off the grid for awhile. We saw her car in the lower lot, at trailhead, with out of state plates. It was still parked there when we left for home. Kind of weird. We reported it to 2 female employees at the store/food place...
Read moreWe love Meramec State Park and visit frequently. The check-in/check-out process was super easy and the hours at the store are very convenient. Prices for groceries and sundries are fairly priced as well. The staff is really friendly and helpful too. It's been quite some time since we've stayed at #8. Everything you need to cook, etc. is right there which is appreciated, however the bed is only a full-size...not very comfortable for two adults. Also, the faucet in the tub/shower was wonky, very loose and coming away from the shower wall. As a small business owner, I completely understand the maintenance and expense of keeping things up. We stayed in early April, the opening of the season and perhaps thought things would have been in better shape. We still hope to come back again...
