Wonderful place, we go CAMPING not GLAMPING, so yes we're in tents, we love it and love the area, kids had a great time, started going here last year, started again last weekend in February and again a few weeks later, yes it was a bit cool, but fun was had by all, will continue to go here for a close to home place to camp. Definitely recommend.
Small update... so went tent camping as always over labor day weekend, got there Thursday night left Monday morning... Sunday night, the last night we were there got to bed around 10ish, not long after, we say a flashlight beam light up our tent, then heard " Maryville Police..." we immediately shot up, window was down so I asked what the problem was, well he explained he'd received a noise complaint ( I told her no screaming...lol) it seemed our small and pretty quiet generator was the issue.... now, we ran it every night for my VA issued medical equipment, as we ALWAYS have, he said it's against Mozingo TENT/PRIMITIVE area policy to use a generator..... my wife ( nurse) immediately chimed in " we have to run it for medical equipment " the officer said " oh, well then you can use it you have a legitimate reason " .... Now, first let me say, the young officer was very polite from the get go, no issues with him, he was doing his job. Now, where to begin... never since tent camping at Mozingo have I EVER seen or read a rule about generators in tent area, second, we'd been there since Thursday night, same neighbors on either side and pretty much same people in surrounding area, why on the LAST night there was there an issue? Now we saw our neighbors everyday, waved, said hello etc... I would think, if someone had a problem they would've said something... oh well, to shorten this up, we went to check in shack next morning and asked, the lady looked thru everything she had, NO RULE ABOUT GENERATORS , gave us the number to lady in charge ( forget her name) called her Tuesday, she told us that YEARS ago, no, you couldn't have generator in tent area, but that had gone away a long time ago.... so if someone complains about you running a generator in tent area, you can inform them, they ARE ALLOWED.... btw, the officer, before he left said " you know, it really isn't very loud, pretty quiet.... Still live Mozingo, and will...
Read moreSome things about this place were great, the kitchen wasn't one of them. It says they are well equipped for cooking, but ours was lacking some basic cooking items. Luckily I had someone coming later, so they brought the things I needed. It wasn't terribly clean and the pull out bed was awful, almost worn out of existence. Otherwise, its a beautiful place and a nice sized cabin. I wouldn't recommend the loft cabins unless you have kids that will sleep up there, its pretty hot, the fan didn't work, and the steps are steep, and I wouldn't recommend an adult sleeping on the pull out either. If we ever go back, I would get a two bedroom for 5 or 6 people instead of the loft cabin. And I would take a lot more things for kitchen use. The lake views were...
Read moreAlways a great course to play! Played there several times on company outings, and the course is always in great shape.
Took my daughter to play there recently, played the Sechrest 18 hole course, then turned in the cart and played the Watson 9 for the first time. It's a different experience, designed with junior golfers in mind. The open layout makes finding errant balls easy, yet the sculpted terrain around the greens adds some challenges. I enjoy walking when playing, and this walking only course is a nice length. As an added bonus, the green fres on the Watson 9 are very reasonable, and the course was meticulously maintained.
I recommend both Mozingo golf courses, the Sechrest 18 for the challeges, and the Watson 9 for a nice relaxing walk...
