I attended a wedding at this venue last night 10/13/2012. The food is amazing, the view is amazing, the service was TERRIBLE! I was appalled and unless changes are made I will NOT consider this venue for my daughter. I saw servers and workers in capri sweat pants, and jeans and t-shirts in the midst of the guests. The reception was to last until 11:00 p.m., however, staff kept coming in and out of the lower level reception area moving tables from the wedding tent to storage, but they came right through the middle of the dance floor parting the guests as if they were Moses parting the Red Sea. Two more issues; first, the workers left the doors propped open and the stench from the septic tank filled the room with an aroma that is not appropriate for a beautiful wedding; second, the workers were wearing rain slickers with hoods and dripped water thru the dance floor as they came through. This began at about 9:00 p.m. and continued sporadically throughout the entire reception. It was only 9:30 p.m. and tables and chairs were already being stacked along the walls of the hall as if to say "okay guys it's almost closing time, pack it up!" They began removing table coverings and table skirting as well. At 10:30 or 10:45 I went to the ladies room to find I could barely enter because it was being cleaned. It's a small restroom, which isn't a problem by my standards, but because it's small the workers should NOT clean until guests are gone or at the end of the reception, NOT DURING THE TIME THE BRIDE HAS PAID FOR! By this time I was so upset for the bride when the workers said "oh it's okay, we are just sweeping you can come in, it was all I could do NOT to tell them how rude their actions were. I am not the only guest who made comments. So, to the owners, and management, I can say with confidence that bad reviews spread exponentially, and not just on the internet. There were "many" young couples in attendance who were also not pleased. To the workers, just because no one tells you your actions are inappropriate doesn't mean it's okay to continue. We said nothing at the time because we didn't want to upset the bride and groom by causing "any"...
Read moreI grew up in Missouri. The A-frame is a beautiful place to visit. You used to be able to grab some food and then head there and enjoy their wine and view. Times have changed. And apparently covid the excape goat for corporate greed. I will share my recent experience. The short version is, still a great view, and wine was good, but don't eat there. The longer version: My wife and I packed salads and some non-alcoholic drinks in a cooler and headed to the A-frame to enjoy a picnic lunch and some wine. We walk up to the entrance and the young man asked us "what's in the bag?" To which I replied food and drinks. He told us how they no longer allow out side food and drinks. We asked why and he told us it was because of covid. So we put our food back in the car. And proceeded down. We saw the menue and were excited to see hummus plate and "loaded nachos". Sounds good right? Well they weren't. Loaded nachos for $13 were basically baseball park nachos, with the added delight that the cheese was thick and cold when we got them. All of the "loaded" items were olives, salsa, and jalapeños all in little plastic cups, which were stuck to the thick cheese. Hummus, while technically not botched, was disappointing. A plastic cup of hummus with some carrot sticks and celery, with some crackers on the side. It's clear their food approach is to feed collage students who apparently don't care about the food. My wife didn't even eat the nachos, we had some hummus but never again. We will be going back, but its is very sad that a place that used to be such a great experience now is more interested with denying outside food so they can sell pretty horrible stuff. Go for the wine and view, eat before hand elsewear. I wonder if their main restaurant at the winery has had a similar slide in their food situation. 3 stars was for the view and wine. If based only on food it would have...
Read moreHistorically, I have always had positive experiences at the A-Frame. The views, wine and food are all excellent.
I recently visited the A-Frame on the afternoon of 9/16/23. I wanted to buy a bottle of wine and I inquired about the Chambourcin Saignée. I mispronounced the name of this wine and the "gentleman" working the counter was obviously irritated by this but went to look for the wine. When the wine was presented, it was a dark color, and I was looking for more of a lighter color Rose. The male employee then seemed irritated that it wasn't what I wanted. At this point I felt very unwelcome. I told my friend "I don't think he understood what I was asking". I wanted to know a little bit about the wine so I could make a decision, maybe I should have just bought a glass and tried it with no explanation? It's apparent I'm no sommelier. At this point the male employee says, "I can't do this" and walked out leaving the other employee by herself with a long line waiting. This female employee was very kind and explained to me that she didn't know too much about it since it's not ordered frequently, but she did let me know it was part of their collector's series.
Really disappointing customer service, especially considering this person is at the main counter in the A-Frame. Not a great first impression or first encounter with staff at a business. I had bought a sticker for advertisement in my own local business, but I don’t think I will give the recommendation to go to this establishment if this guy oversees your customer service experience. Still giving 5 stars because I know how important that is as a business owner and this place is great with the exception of...
